    Default Are dinasties possible?

    Hey, guys!
    I know it's a bit late and maybe already addressed but is it possible to have a Richard II if you already had Richard before?
    It would certainly make DoS closer to history, but I got a funny feeling the game doesn't allow it. Those guys certainly released a half-assed game!
    Thanks.

    If you think you can make a better medieval strategy game, including epic battles on such grand scale, than CA, I dare you to

    But interesting question indeed, I've never really payed attention to whether I've had any faction leaders with the same name. Partially I guess because I've never had the patience to play for hundreds of turns, so I've never had huge dynasties to begin with.

    In short: no. The names are picked up randomly from the txt files containing them so the only way how to have Richard II, III etc. would be to have those names already in the file. But then it could mean that Richard II could become father of Richard I or appear in the tree with no Richard what so ever anew (but already second by name). The other option would be to have scripted family trees but that is not only insanely demanding on turn times but also not very sensible way to do it.

    @Rinan: saying nothing useful is the definition of spam. Hand-fulls of modders, working only part-time created the Mods above, some truly epic, and a full company working non-stop couldn't?! Games are nowadays released by marketers and accountants trying to max the profit, needing half dozen patches just to get functional.

    @Resurrection : I thought as much, thx.

    Could it be a cognomen? Like how characters names can be changed to have "the honourable" or "the scarred" after their name; could it be scripted so that if a king has reigned with the same name as they, they get a "II" or "III" cognomen?

    I know nothing about scripting of course, just fishing...

    Well I guess it could be scripted but I rather don't imagine how demanding such scripts would be and how long the turn time would be. Currently with most scripts done it's pretty fast but there are no region renaming scripts yet and I think names with I., II. etc. would be of too little value in compare to the cost (in terms of turn time and scripting).

    Hmmmm.... Fair enough. You don't want to end up with another Anno Domini.
