    Default Rebel General

I had the civil war trigger happen and one of the generals in my capital became a rebel and says that "You are not my KING!" The popup says that he has locked himself in the city and won't come out. So he is just sitting there in the capital with my king and another loyal governor. If I click on the rebel general I can't move him anywhere. Tried searching the manual and the forums, probably just overlooking something easy. How do I give this guy the boot?

I once had a general who wouldn't leave London anymore. Good thing he was 80 years old , and he died of old age within a few turns. Not sure what other options exist for your rebel general. Assassins won't work on him , he can't be coerced to get on a ship (IIRC the text describing his rebelious behavior mentions something about refusing to go on ships anymore )

Dungeon. Read the manual and follow the instructions to the letter. Or else you'll break the script.

I tried the dungeon thing, the problem seems to be that my capital of Sicily is the castle Palermo. I can't figure out how to build a dungeon there. If I move my capital to Naples where there is a dungeon and put my king inside I can't seem to move the disloyal general off Palermo island anyway.

"I have securely locked the gates to the town and will not come out. Do your worst! Only a fool would board one of your death ships my lord."

When I click on the disloyal general he seems to have zero movement points. No idea what is wrong. Guess I'll install your new battlefield balance and try the campaign again. Perhaps it was just buggy.

Yeah, that happens. Basically I think it's hoped that you'll have enough time to get your general to a city with a dungeon before he totally rebels. Normally that works out, but I have seen it happen very rapidly.

Anyway, the dungeon and retirement scripts are dodgy. I tend to play as if rebellion is my greatest enemy, which is quite realistic, because I don't want to have to deal with the dungeon script

Yea well from now on I can guarantee they will preemptively be on one of my "sightseeing" boats.

Personally I'd sacrifice my king to the god of pointy sticks - Rebellion over. Just be sure to hand over the privy seal and any swords to the new heir you want.

this was also mentioned in a previous post, but as it appears here i want to raise the question again:

when you're playing as sicily and get rebel generals, does it work when you change your capital to, lets say, naples, build a dungeon there and then throw your disobedient general in there? similarly, does it work to retire old generals there?
i stopped playing sicily some time ago. i broke the script for throwing generals into the dungeon (that's why i can't answer the question above properly), and i got kings that always inspired civil war because they didn't get crowned. here's the important thing: someone told me that you must bring your king to the ORIGINAL capital in order to let him being crowned! otherwise you will have uncrowned kings all the time, what usually ends up in civil war, and that will prevent you from ... everything

would be very nice if someone (taiji? ) could answer these questions.
if it really was the case that the retirement/royal justice thing won't work for all factions with a castle as original capital, that would be some kind of frustrating news for thistlechaser (and some others...)

    greets, danny!

Hiya Danny, well like I said, I avoid the script because it's faulty. Plus I don't think the mechanics of the immobile rebel family members is well thought out. Like it shouldn't be possible to immobilise a family member outside a city.

So I'm hardly an expert on that side of the game, besides avoiding it.

But I think the manual is probably wrong about the Rebel and the king both having to be in the capital. I suspect the rebel just needs to be in a settlement with a dungeon, and the king in the capital.
