I was just wondering how well Napoleon Total War is selling compared to the other Total War games. Did it sell more or less than Empire?

Not bad.But less than empire,http://www.play.com/Games/PC/6-/TopSellers.html
We'll probably find out at the end of the month when Sega publishes its year-end stockholder's report. I've been following it pretty closely and pajomife@iol.pt pretty much summed it. I'm guessing that in the first month NTW sold 40 - 50% of the units that ETW sold, but that's pure speculation on my part.
Stats on Steam can give a small insight in the popularity too. Sales numbers only count Steam versions of course, but there are still more players playing Empire than Nappy these days.

Isn't the very low traffic at sites like this and the totalwar.com forum itself a pretty sure indicator that something is seriously wrong with sales?
Where are all the strategy and faction guides and detailed FAQs that we had by this stage for other TW games?
Never bought Empire on principle myself but suggest that if sales for NTW do turn out to be half of Empire's that's a stunning indictment of CA and Sega for rushing a beta version of that game to market and then abandoning it half-fixed.
Obviously a lot of people do follow that old dictum 'fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me'
Which is a pity as NTW is way better than I expected it to be and if we could only properly mod it would be potentially a superb game good for several more years play.
If you like the picture of my woman, GIVE ME REP!!!!
check how many people are here... its also good indicator - just few seconds ago i counted around 200 people in RTW section, 400 in M2TW section, just over 100 in ETW and 160 in NTW... so go figure...
Yeh this is a telling factor on a company that has largely forsaken its crucial TWC support since ETW in terms of mod support, customer service, listening and acting on customer feedback and just basically ignoring its most loyal customer fanbase - it has alienated a lot of people. This is illustrated by how many times CA have contributed or commented on the numerous discussions about NTW since its release - i think i have seen one and it was a nothing comment. From someone who manages a business i know how important such things are to success and survival in the business world.
NTW may be one of the best TW games CA have made but when there are a lot of disgruntled/disillusioned customers out there then it makes little difference how good it is.
In any relationship once trust has been betrayed its hard if not impossible to win it back...
I would have bought it if it was actually an expansion for empire, that upgraded the core game significantly as well as added napoleans campaigns. I'll probably still grab it later when its in the bargain bin. I dont have anything against it, just prefer the scope of Empire far more.
They won it back lol Napoleon is a better game it will make more sales and don't forget its not CA who back stabbed you it was SEGA who forced them to say things and it was SEGA who details what they say and do etc.......
It's next to impossible for NTW to outsell ETW at this point. Sales for games like this follow a bell curve and they're well past the peak. It may be the better game, but there are just too many forces aligned against it. Regardless, I'm sure they made a nice chunk of change from it.
I hope there next game makes even less.
After Empire I will never buy another totalwar game again.
I have bought with my hard earned money every tw game prior to this starting with shogun. I still have them. Making Napoleon a new full priced game and ending support of Empire along with making Empire too complicated to mod did it for me. Not only that Empire was unplayable for weeks after I bought it.
I buy allot of games and so do my friends. But never again any game that has anything to do with CA. I don't blame Sega one bit. Anytime I can I will try to dissuade people from purchasing a TW game. From this point on.

Well, it has nothing to do with the quality of the game, ETW had such a big hype, with the new engine, naval battles, muskets, gunpowder, etc... So it had a lot going for it, and its advertisment was huge, NTW was a lot less advertisment, but a much better game, CA made the right choice, spending more time on the product then the sales, making it a smart, diverse, heaps of new features, units and more historical accuracy, plus nicer graphics, and now I consider it to be the best TW yet, RTW was the best, but it has been outdated 5 years on, thats a long time in gaming years. So NTW takes the new TW crown, but had one of the lowest sales due to the fact that ETW sucked, and less advertising!
