Advice on 2TPY for a new player.
I've finally decided to give Stainless Steel a go after looking at it many times and being put off by the seemingly endless versions and add ons. I like to rp my games (and may write an AAR of my campaign) and wouldn't be able to enjoy it with character aging at a different rate to the game calender. I have looked through the forum and there are a number of options for a 2TPY game, I tried Tsarsies' mod on a 6.2 install with no other mods and it crashes (I tries reinstalling a few time, no luck. I check it's working after every installation, works right up to 6.2 then when I add Tsarsies' it crashes at the splash screen). Does anybody have any advice on the simplest way to play Stainless Steel with 2 turns per year, I'm happy enough to install any other mini-mods if necessary. Thanks.

Re: Advice on 2TPY for a new player.
I like 2TPY as well. I find the easiest way to switch to 2TPY is to simply open descr_strat.txt which is located in C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign and change
timescale 2.00
to
timescale 0.50
Note: Sometimes the default value will be 1.00 for 1TPY.
I've done this and all the historical events seem to match up perfectly with the date, which I was surprised by. Hope this helped.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out John.
I was under the impression simply editing the descr_strat led to issues with faction emergence, guilds, missions and other problems. It would also mean having cities develop very early and factions rolling in cash with nothing to build in the late game. I finally figured out an install that seems to work, http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=328531. The only major issue seems to be KoJ not emerging, personally I'm not overly bothered by that. I've only played a few turns, but it seems to be ok so far.
