Default Smaller map and larger area?

I was just looking at the map and I had an idea for a minimod. I dont have the time to work on it but if someone wants to work on it i'll just throw my ideas here.

Im looking for a quicker to complete game of SS. Right now even a minor game will go well into the week long marathon. I would like a well organized game of SS that is more like risk, takes 3-9 hours tops. For that purpose i had the following ideas.

Reduce the number of provinces and the overall map size by about 1/3rd and 50%. Add southren tip of Arabia, Ethiopia, Western most parts of India up to the Indus valley. Give the bordering city an event based increase in revenue and taxation to represent off map resources.

Areas the size of UK should be traversable from top (tip of Scotland) to bottom (land's end) in 2 turns most using roads, no more. The number of provinces in UK should be reduced from the present 12 to 9 or so to match with the smaller map, possibly even less. This would make it so that every city actually matters from a strategic point of view, which it doesn't right now. Or from scandinavias 11 (not including finland) to a 8 or so.

Right now i find games of Med II to be such slugfests that they are realistically impossible on my fairly busy schedule.

If anyone wants to brainstorm and possibly work on the mod (i cant take part in it) feel free to talk of it here. If there already is such a minimod for SS i would appreciate being nudged in that direction.

Otherwise, thanks for the great mod folks!

    hello,
you can change the movementpoints of your army in the stratmap (search for: starting_action_points in the descr_character.txt file in your mod folder), but for me it seems very unhistorical to move in some turns all around medieval europe.

no offence but iīve got a question to you - why do you want to reduce one of the most important modfeature (bigger and historical map). Most people want to add more regions to play a deeper and detailed game than in vanilla.
i think less than 25% of the gamers ever even reached the winconditions in the there games (mostly because itīs not important to them). the goal of nearly all "XXtw mods" isnīt fast gameplay and mission complete. itīs more about historical units, maps and gameplay in medieval warfare.

For the simple reason that I like the game, I do not however like to play a single match for that long.

And since all the mods are about "my vision of historical accuracy + massively larger map" i think its completely reasonable that some people would want a quicker version of the game, one that you can play in a day (not counting battles). Towards that end if i had the time and the energy, neither of which i do. I would mod SS so that the map includes half of modern Ethiopia as well as the very west part of India, Iceland and the Azores. As well as reduce the number of provinces per area, for example from the 12 in UK now to 9 tops, most likely 2 for Ireland, one for Wales 2 for Scotland and 3 for england. That would just be my preference, doesn't seem to be much interest in this. Oh well

BTW. I've played 2 games of SS to victory, so I've played the game I comment on.
