More responsible behavior - Don't have unprotected sex with random people!
But there is one no one has mentioned: quarantine. With other diseases, the victims are isolated from everyone else. With AIDs, we could do something similar. People who get it one way or another are forbidden from spreading it any further by having sex.
What does everyone think of this idea?

I am not sure how it would be done. Maybe second time offenders could be imprisoned to make sure they don't do it again.

About the merits of the argument, I don't think it will work. One, you would be weakening the rights of a significant portion of the world. Also, what about the undiagnosed cases, they would still spread and cause even more cases. Finally, the mixing of blood causes the spread too, under which case not having sex will not be stopping the spread.

? I forget the numbers, but using protection GREATLY reduces the risk of catching infection... Many of the places(Africa) that need to use condoms the most are being told that by the Church not to use them.. Know I myself am a christian, but I dont see this as a good aproach for helping these people...
Better solution? Well obviously the best is absenance, but that goes against the grain of human genetics, i.e the desire to carry on your genetic material..
So the next best solution is protection, and it is a solution that would greatly fix the problem..
The very best solution is actually finding a cure, but that will take awhile, so it is best to deal with it the best way possible, and that is like I said, a simple condom..

Sexaul transmition is the lead cause. Sharing Drug needles is the next big cause. Obviously just dont do drugs, and if you must dont share needles..

nope never have, but yes I understand there are reasons whu the (catholic) Curch bans condem use. But the fact is even if you ban condoms, people are still going to have sex. It is human nature. Maybe its wrong, maybe its not, thats not the point.. The point is peopl are going to have sex and advocating protection is the an easy way to help all Std's and even the whole abortion issue. Sure protection doesnt always work, but its much better than none..

How can having sex possibly be wrong? That's how the human race survives and it is a natural behavior for all animals. Stopping yourself from doing it (because you think it's "wrong") is just repression of your humanity, which is wrong.

Because of the long incubation period you don't realy know if people are infected until the had the chance to infect others.
So quarantine wound not work for AIDS like it does for other ("quick") diseases.
But the other solutions work fine, all they have to do is make them available in Africa, not just the West.

When abstinence was practiced univerally in American culture, people MARRIED in their teens, so keeping them busy with sex was not a problem. Perhaps this is the solution for AIDs!

Not many people get infected like this, there is only real danger amongs heroine addicts (who use other people needles).
HIV would die out if it could only be spread via bloodmixing.
Unlikely, unless you too have an open wound, and you press both wounds together.Hey, mine is an important point. If you see someone fall and hurt themselves, and you have an open cut, if the other person has aids you can get it.
And even in this case it's unlikely the HIV virus would find a way into your body.
