Icon5 "upgrading" generals my princesses married

    hi folks,

usually i let my princesses marry foreign generals, because they tend to have a lot of command stars even if they're young and it's hard to find a good, young govenor.
these generals usually have the rank "squire". i'm playing the turks and they have, as you know, different names for the heraldic ranks.
now, when i lead these generals into battle, they improve a lot and soon get really good generals - BUT the rank would never increase!? why is that? i guess that the system itself for "upgrading" the generals rank is the same for all factions but the naming is different - but why do they stay a "squire" (or similar for, i think, pagan factions) even though they are a dangerous one-man armies?

was this intended to be this way, is it just not working for me or has it been impossible to implement that "feature"?

    thank you for any hint!

Status Que: All governors should be able to bcome "knights" and no more, while generals would become "Grand Cross Commanders". However, some wretched foreigners may have no rank at all. Anything else is unacceptable behavior and deserve to hunt pirat ships with 1 cog or to charge down a couple of stakes.
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

hm i'm not sure if i got your point.
foreigners don't have the trait "career governor" or "career general", but i usually use them as generals (see first post). but no matter how many years of campaigning and regardless of how many heroic victories they experience, they won't get the next level in terms of heraldic ranks. why? is it because they're members of non-muslim factions (so, squire -> amir is just not possible, for example)? if so, why don't they just keep climbing their "original" career ladder (squire -> knight -> ...)?
right now i have a 10 stars leader with 15 years campaigning who still is a squire which is ridiculous.

I have also noticed this, I ended up throwing the general into a rebel army to kill him off

and that's your final solution? that sounds somewhat unacceptable for me...

so that's why i want an explanation on this fact... but i guess - since you also noticed this problem - that it's just not possible for generals with "foreign" ranks to climb up the career ladder
    sadly.
