i cant offer alliances to any of the big powers for some reason

Maybe you have nothing to offer them. I find that some factions just won't ally with me even when I try to offer them tribute. And it's different factions every time I start a new game.

its not that they decline
i dont even have the option of offering alliance

this is quite a terrible bug if it indeed is one
it means diplomacy is over
and thats a big part of the game

Well he didn't say they were not allied with his enemies he said he wasn't allied with theirs.

If no nation has the option to ally with you it's a bug. I'm not sure if excommunication would cause you not to be able to ally with catholic nations but surly you would be able to ally with non-catholic factions.

Have you tried it in a new game?

check it out
look at novgorod if i scroll down their enemies it will only add the rebels so all the info is already in the picture

as for others im not exactly 100% sure but i cant ally with novgorod venice aragon and norway.

That might be to do with not wanting to ally with "Despicable" factions

Seems those powers have all killed multitudes of factions to get so big...

When you say "big powers" is big powers all but rebels or stuff like Fatimids but not stuff like Ireland?

But sometimes the game won't let you do stuff that you wouldn't want to do in real life, like ally with someone liable to back-stab you. Unfortunately the (hard-coded) reputation system is rather clumsy, as factions like Fatimids can behave totally perfectly and look Despicable from having ten minor European powers joining a Crusade against them in turn three.

Could it have anything to do with your alliance with the Mongols? Try breaking that alliance and see if you can ally with anyone else.

Could be code about Novgorod hating Mongols. But it shouldn't apply to Norway or Aragon...

ok i think im on to something
if you look at the printscreens i published you will see that the teutonic order is considered living faction
while it is in fact dead
maybe thats what causes the bug

i could of course surrender their regions
but than im probably entering a world of ctds down the road

Thats normal behaviour - papacy works the same way.

but i cant ally with novgorod venice aragon and norway.

Is the papacy allied with Poland? What are the other factions allied to? I think there is a nice evil entente working here...

Well save before you do and then try asking for alliances - if it does something we can work with that.

The Teutonic Order remains alive because it's a "nomadic" faction, as it emerges with no regions. You have to kill all its stuff, even priests and spies, to destroy it.
