    Default Archers not fireing??

Im playing ss 4.1 beause i cant get the others to work for some reason.
but my problems is that i think all my xbow units just dont fire.it says thye are firing but when you zoom in on them they are just standing there doing nothing??
also when defending a city/castle and my archers are placed on the walls only very few of the archers fire at the enemy (like 5-10 out of 40 or something)
does anyone know why this happens or how to stop it happening???

If you have gold or kingdoms I'd suggest trying to get 6.1 to work

Maybe the rest of that topic has a solution for you.

I know that archers are smarter in Medieval II; they won't shoot when your own troops are engaged in melee. Similarly, they won't shoot their brothers in front of them in the back - that's probably why only a few are firing from the wall, because the ones in the back aren't arcing their shots.

Yet it is(for me anyway) to force fire on opponents, regardless if your other troops are in a melee with them.
Simply make sure Fire at will is OFF, and then issue the attack command like usual.

Nice tip. I just keep Fire at Will on most of the time and let my archers shoot anything they want, unless there's a specific high-value target that I want to weaken before it reaches my infantry.

I think limited line of sight and problematic arc angles are just the problem our op could have. Thats actually one problem I'd solve by throwing money at it (get kingdoms and 6.2)

I recall something about fire at will triggering firing at less then (80%) maximum range. Can anyone confirm that?
