    Default ATI 10.4?

So I was reading the Battlefield Bad Company 2 facebook page, and it listed this driver, saying it would speed up load times. I'm thinking this could help me out a lot. What about you all?

How do you think this could affect my performance, fps wise? Atm, I am running 10.2

Here's a quick link to the amd page about the driver: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...-4-Hotfix.aspx

Thanks, and rep cakes will be served.

It will likely only affect FPS if it says it affects FPS. The driver is still a beta ATM. When they release the full driver, they have a change log of which includes circumstances of any performance increases. I.E: 12% performance increase in game X when using X. I think it's weird that a video driver had affected loading times by apparently such an amount, but it did. So, if you're playing BC2 it'll probably be beneficial for loading times to use 10.4, but you have to wait for the release log or test yourself to see any performance gain. If the driver is instable just roll back to 10.3 or 10.2.

Alright, thanks. Also, would you reccomend using driversweeper? I've heard both pros and cons of using it.

I would only consider using it if I were running XP and were moving for a Geforce card to a Radeon or vice versa as I under stand it Windows 7 (and I presume this applies to Vista as well) can handle 2 or more differant vendor ID's so the need for apps like Driver Sweeper are redunant and I've only heard of problems that have been caused by Driver Sweeper when it's been run on Windows 7 in as much is deletes crucial Windows VGA driver files.

It's best to run it after using the main way of uninstalling the driver as it is intended to be used to clean-up the leftovers that the official uninstaller does not remove. Though I don't see how there are any cons in using it other than I think it might erase profile settings in the Catalyst Control Center, if you use it, which can be set back again. It has a pre-defined list, so it wouldn't touch anything that is not related to what you selected. It's pretty safe.

Having some left-over files doesn't always cause problems because the installer for the new driver would usually just overwrite them. It's good to use if you want the maximum insurance to experience a minimum of problems, I guess.

I dunno about 10.4...I updated my drivers today and the latest seem to be 10.3. And I have the same graphics card as you.
Also checked and 10.3 is the latest for Vista as well.

10.4 is in a beta stage not available in the regular download section. It can be acquired here

Alright boys, I downloaded 10.4 and installed it (after bsod'ing, and then install-failing lol) just over the old drivers (i think 10.2)

I'm soon going to test the load times in bad company 2, I'll give you guys an update when I finish.

Right, so i downloaded it, and so far I'm not seeing a very drastic if any fps drop. Loading times are sped up about 6-7x
