Default Are there penalties for ending a turn with too much money?

Is Empire like Rome in that if you end a turn with a certain amount of money in your treasury your family members/Cabinet get bad traits? If so, what are the amounts?

I haven't noticed it, myself. But then again I'm still at a stage where I'm upgrading structures and infrastructure. And trying bribe other nations, or buy regions. Not that I have success with that.

    Don't think so.

But if it is the case, make some state gifts to lose your money

I know how to get rid of the money.

What I would need to know is the amount the penalties kick in.

If it's like Rome, every turn you end with 50K or 100K in your treasury the chance for family members to get bad habits increases greatly. I can't remember the exact per centage increase but I know it goes from a small chance to an almost certainty.

I currently have over 100K and nearly every one of my previously good ministers has become "morally impaired."

If you've got that much money, does it really matter if your ministers take a bit for themselves? You can afford it.

I hadn't noticed that this is the case though. My treasury is currently at over 4million (year around 1780 using Darthmod on hard) and all of my ministers still have loads of stars.
Then again, I didn't notice this in Rome either, so maybe i'm just unobservant.

    Hi there.
Mesa not think so. Bad traits tends to come when one is losing a war, is too far behind in research and prestige, and if you are doing things that makes your government less popular. Like having high taxes and so on.

Sometimes a minister will acquire "Frugal and Thrifty" if you don't spend much in that minister's domain. Though it's not happened readily enough for me to tell if it's just coincidence. I don't think your overall treasury affects it either way though.

hmm, it doesn't sit well with me to have morally impaired ministers. Especially if it could have been prevented.

Staying under 50K was one of my main goals in Rome. That also told me when I could recruit more legions.

Exactly! Just like in Rome: Total War

A losing general would get bad traits.

A governor who built too much or not enough of something would get bad traits.

Having taxes too high or too low also could give negative traits.

    and...

If you ended a turn with more than 50K or 100K all your family members would get points toward negative traits.

See? The same types of things that gave negative traits in one Total War game give them in another, so why not the treasury penalty? Why would they carry over all the others and not that one?

Particularly when making money is relatively easy.

I just don't see why they wouldn't put some penalty in there.

I'm reasonably certain the answer is no. I've played a handfull of games where I've had -ton of money and I don't recall anyone getting morally impaired or anything, while I've been struggling for money and had a gov't that would make Nixon blush. I would say that there are triggers that affect it but having too much money isn't one of them.
