Default Quick question from a new player to M2TW

Hi, I have what I hope is a quick and simple question for the SS community.

I am totally new to the Total War franchise and just completed my first long campaign with England on the E/E difficulty. I loved playing through the campaign, but I've read quite a bit about SS and I really want to give it a try.

My question is: Is it too ambitious to jump right into a 6.2 RC/RR BGR game, even on E/E? Should I instead be working on some kind of progression to build up my skill level with the game? Maybe play with 6.1 first? with or without submods?

I only ask because I've read so much about the difficulty level of these mods. Espescially 6.2 and BGR IV. However, I am excited to try them out.

Just curious on the opinion of the community.

    Thanks for your advice.

I would play without all these great mods first. But I advise against playing on E/E for too long. Because fighting against easy AI opponents makes you lazy and will not improve your game.

Read the general guides on the forums, and try M/M , H/H soon. Then come play mods. First SS, then SS RCRR, then BGRIV.

Good luck from a STW veteran!

As long as you understand the mechanics of the game, go ahead, even if you fail, you learn from doing so.
The difficulty is relative, some teams are incredibly difficult in RR/RC (even SS vanilla), wheras some are not.
Uh, I would have advised you to play as England first, but that might get boring.
Try Sicily, or Novgorod, or the Moors. These are probably the easiest factions. (Early era) (Novgorod can frustrate though, as the regions are far larger then you're used to.)

I'd say that going straight for RR/RC instead of vanilla SS is a good idea. But don't do BGR-IV yet. Oh no. Wait until VH on RR/RC is okay. And welcome to the forums

I'd suggest skipping straight to RR/RC, but as others said, doing without BGR while you get used to it may be a good idea. However, if you do decide to use BGR, the big thing is that I suggest you play a secure faction that is not surrounded by other religions. Good examples are The Scandinavian Factions, The British Factions, and The Italian Factions.

Also, there's plenty of good advice on the forums that will help quite a bit ^_^.

Quick note to that: Sicily is somewhat surrounded by other religions, with Islam to the south and Orthodox Christianity to the east.

Yeah, but Sicily has the choice of expanding anywhere they'd like. It's not really an issue of being surrounded quite so much, as the only people bordering you by land are Christians.

Until you go with the Council of Nobles and hit Tunisia & Albania.
