    Default Campaing Questions

    1. Do you recruit governors?
    2. Do you exterminate captured settlements?
    3. Do you upgrade settlements every time they come up for upgrade? 3a. Even if it would trigger reforms?
    4. 1 or 0 turn recruitment (I personally use 1)
    5. M/H/VH campaing - which gives the lowest AI bonuse but makes the campaign challenging?
    6. Recent campaign - only use governors when family member dies.

    1. Yes, they are essential to maintaining your growing Empire

    2. On rare occasion you do this. You exterminate cities you know are going to be giving you trouble to teach them a lesson.

    3. Depends on how much money you have and in the region it is in. If you upgrade a settlement in a far region and you need the upgrades on the other side it will waste time to get them there.

3a. When triggering the reforms you have to be well prepared before hand and become a logistic nightmare if you accidentally trigger the reforms.

    4. I personally use 0 turn because I like MASSIVE battles. This is entirely up to you.

    5. M/M is the best way to go. It's by far the most realistic approach

    6. recruit governors left and right. They help maintain the empire while your generals do the fighting.

    I hope this helps

    1. Yes, if there aren't enough family members for every city and the armies.
    2. Only if they make me angry...
    3. Usually, depending on available funds.
    4. Currently 0 but I have a mix of both in my different campaigns.
    5. I play on H/H.

1.You can recruit governors if you want or use family members, the governors dont get any special management bonuses.
2.I personally do exterminate if the city looks particularly rebellious or to make an example.
3.If you have the money you may as well upgrade, it depends if you want the reforms or not when playing as rome.
4.I just started using 0-turn for the first time, but i must admit it gets tedious fighting stack after stack sometimes, but its your personal preference.
5.I play with medium battle difficulty and hard campaign difficulty

    1. Yes.
    2. Depends. Iberians, Germans and Macedonians all got exterminated as they all stabbed me in the back as Allies.
    3. No, depends what I'm after in that settlement.
    4. 0 but that's just because I'm so far along I'd rather finish.
    5. H/H or H/VH is the hardest I think.
    6. No, depends. would never stick a family member in a small settlement. Usually have family members lead an army unless they have very good mgt stats.

    1. Yes, if a family member isn't present then I'll recruit a Governor any day of the week. When a family member becomes available I'll send the available Governor to a fort at a safe point (for example, in Italy I have one built near Rome in the mountains permanently).

    2. Only in the mid and later stages of the game. At the start I tend to enslave them to boost my own city numbers.

    3. Yep, otherwise they have the habit of falling into rebellion which I don't need.

    4. O turn recruitment. No idea if this is historically accurate or not, probably not, but given the ammount of scratch legions that the Romans recruited in a short period of time. Battles are their forming of training IMO.

    5. Always play on H/VH.

    6. Don't understand, you mean in battles? I'll use Governors in any way possible even in the campaigns.
When you get right down to it, there's only birth, copulation and death. Everything else is pure bloody guesswork!

I was asking, but also wanted to see what peoples preferences were. I have played many times. In one campaign I have slaughtered my way across Gaul..........why..........cuz I hate them ha ha ha ha ha. I'm thinking at M/M for a challenge, exterminate any rebel settlements, but not for cities of factions I capture.

It's good that you recruit governors!

I almost always exterminate. Citizens breed like rabits anyway, and I don't like those red angry faces. If they get angry with me, they die. Actualy, the only way for them to save their skin is to show considerable enthusiasm about their new masters.

Yes always, this way you can manage the taxes in each settlement. Also if they have some management points they will bring in more money.

Only larger cities, if a town has ~2000 - 4000 people I'll just occupy, more then 5000 = exterminate.

I recruit the cheapest units possible and send them off somewhere to lower the population in that city so yes I try to hold off an upgrade sometimes if I have some buildings left to build.

1.Yes. They let you manage more efficiently, usually get/have bonuses (for management), and sometimes help with happiness.

    2. Quite often. It gives me time to build up cultural happiness and recruit governors while the enemy throws its stacks.

    3. If I have the money, yes.

    4. 0

    5. Hard campaign/Very Hard battle now. I use to play on H/H, except one campaign that I played VH/VH (Ptolemaics, got pushed back, too. Sometimes this difficulty turns out fun).

    6. I Use governors if there is no one in the settlement or I am going to move a family member/general out.

1.Depends what faction im playing if romans i recruit them only in rome pre reforms and post reforms anywhere and never use family members except for rome if a barbarian family members only and if hellenic a sort of mixture a gov till the pop reaches 12000 then a family member (its a nightmare but i find it helps with rp)
2.only if im raiding then abandoning settlements (found its the only way i can keep gauls and germans under control)
3.No i hold off till all other buildings are built
    4.0 turn
    5.H campaign M battle
6.if the gov is a family member i use there son or son in law if they die without having kids i follow a line of succesion
