Eowyn is this small women taking on the witch king, the witch king takes his sweet time to finish her, and he gets killed by a small stab to the back? I think if he was the witch king, I first think he could take more than what a mere normal person could take ya know? One of the most feared beings of middle earth, to be killed by a women, but much worst by a small hobbit. Maybe he was just all talk? Or, maybe you should not carry a huge mace that you can not accurately swing.

Was that in the books like that?

First, I just hate the whole "women kicking butt" in movies cliche. I really do not know why hollywood does this, it ruined terminator 3 for me also.

I mean that nazgul could sure kill all those men, but that one woman I tell ya, she can take its head off no problem. I could understand if the nazgul was right about to feast on theoden, and then she just comes right in and stabs its neck (opportunist!). She was all like "I AM RIGHT HERE GET ME."... Think about it, if a woman who has not gone through extensive training can kill a whitch king and nazgul... Freakin media trying to put into the minds of women that they can do things that not even normal men can do. I just think the way the scene was done was entirely unrealistic, it was a huge cliche.

    It ticks me off

Not exactly, he wounded his leg with a Nùmenorean blade, that made the Witch-King vulnerable. It was Eowyn that killed him.
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

    1. It was like that in the book. You should maybe first get some lore knowledge before complaining.
    2. The Witch-King could not be killed by a man. So it had to be a woman to do so.
    3. It was not a normal blade which did hurt the Witch-King, it was made in Arnor.

1st. eowyn is a shielmaiden of rohan and has gone through a lot of training. in the books, she is actually sad because she is not allowed to fight.
2nd. in the books, the scene is almost the same. we, however, know that meri's sword is a numenorian blade, designed to kill even nazgul. after stabing him, meri makes the witch-king vulnerable to a normal attack, so that he is killed by eowyn.
3d. "no man can kill me" actually means he might lose his physical form aftar a strong attack, just to regain it and be "ressurected" in gorgoroth. thanks to the numenorian blade, he was completely wiped out,
4th. i think that adressing women like that is, at least, discriminational. actually, i would -rep you, if it was enabled. someone might even report you, but i will not go to that extent. my suggestion is to remove your post before someone else sees it.
5th. creating a new topic for sth like that is spamming, even more when there is a general tolkien disscusion thread.
6th. i am 97% sure that, after i press the "post quick reply" button, someone will have already answered this.

edit: i was right at my 6th point, but not what i expected. i dont want to be mean, but a bit of (self) criticism always helps.

No. Seriously, have you guys even read the books?
'Hinder me? Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!'
Then Merry heard of all sounds in that hour the strangest. It seemed that Dernhelm laughed, and the clear voice was like the ring of steel. 'But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Eowyn I am, Eomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.'
The winged creature screamed at her, but the Ringwraith made no answer, as if in sudden doubt
Kills the Fell Beast, Merry stabs the Witchking in the knee and then...
Then, tottering, struggling up, with her last strength she drove her sword between crown and mantle, as the great shoulders bowed before her. The sword broke sparkling into many shards. The crown rolled away with a clang. Eowyn fell forward upon her fallen foe. But lo! the mantle and hauberk were empty.
But anyway, enjoy your continued celibacy Berserker1.

I just thought that Merrys dagger was a fancy elvish weapon.

Does this mean All Or Most Elves carry Nùmenorean blade's?
    Either way.

I For one thought it was a great scene Judging the fact If that was real. You'd never expect a women on the battlefield.

As for the stab to the face.

    Well....

    It looked pretty deep.

No it means that Merry's blade was a Numenorian one. Elves still use Elvish blades.

Since lady ( I Forgot her name ) Gave him a dagger too!?

    Either way.

I Still thought it was a good scene.

i think the blades that the hobbits got were old numenorian swords, with a cast spelled on them, to be able to wound ring wraiths. they were from the time when arnor struggled in its war against the evil.

    Elves =/= Nùmenorean

Elves carry Elvish blades and I don't know how you made that connection.

Nùmenoreans are the ancestors of the Dùnedain, such as Aragorn. This scene made less sense in the movie because they cut the scene in Fellowship of the Ring where the hobbits are captured by Barrow Wights, rescued by Tom Bombadil and take the blades of Westernesse from the plunder at the barrow, which was made by the Dùnedain of Cardolan.

They make that connection because in the movies, at least in the extended version, they get the blades from Galadriel as gifts when they depart from Lorien.

It Looked extremely painful? What happioned o.O?
Because the Witch King is a realy twisted cursed thing and by stabbing him merry gets cursed too, if not for the healing hands of Aragorn both would have died after some days.

They didn't get their blades from the elves in the books. They got them from their encounter with the barrow wights. The blades were from ancient Arnor.

Okay that makes more sense now. Okay, in the books, Galadriel (not witch), just gave them and Boromir gilded belts.

Also, you know you can just pop down to a library. Used bookstores also typically have a lot of copies lying around for a low cost. O
