    Default Defensive terrain?

There's an indicator showing that your units get boosted by holding higher ground, but I haven't seen any indicator for defensive terrain. Do you get a boost by placing units in the woods, and is there a fatigue penalty from marching though rough terrain?

Well, the "high ground" is a morale factor which are displayed in the mouse over.
Other terrain has impact on fighting, but not on morale so it is not shown.

Yes, woods provide cover from enemy fire. As I said, there is no morale boost.
I don't think there is a fatigue penalty for rough terrain, but there certainly is one for climbing steep hills.

I suppose it also provides some cover against cavalry charges? It would seem logical that the horses lose some momentum among the trees.

Yes, I originally wanted to mention that. Cavalry also is noticeably slower in woods.

Thx, I'll try playing with terrain now that I know what to look for!
