Just curious about what other people use.
I usually use 8 units of line infantry and 2 Grenadier units and that right their usually sinks my whole damn treasury. I am still trying to get used to the economic system.
6 or 8, depending on how many cavalry or artillery units I want to include.
By the later stages of the campaign, my full stack army would be 1 general, 2 heavy cav, 2 light cav, 1 howitzer, 2 horse arty, 4 rifles, 2 guards and the rest line (i.e. 6 of them).
Earlier in the campaign though, the rifles and guards are replaced with line (i don't bother with skirmishers until i get rifles). Obviously this all depends on what funds i've got. In reality, most of my field armies will be smaller than this until the late game stage.
The amount of line infantry I recruit is usually dependent on the number of cannons I field in an army, as cannons are my work horse I tend to have enough line infantry to have either side of my cannons guarded. Usually group them with the cannons during deployment, and select the preset formation, "triple line, integrated artillery" this forms a single line with the cannons between each unit of line infantry. Then I'll usually have one or two units more for reserves or as extra guard for my flanks.
Usually depends on what I recruit. I usually have four artillery units in my armies, and a general, so that's five slots there. I usually have 6-8 line infantry, some light infantry, a cavalry unit or two, and then I look at what my army could still use and go from there.
6-9. I like to brigade my regiments into groups of 3. I will substitute a grenadier regiment for a line regiment if I have one. The grenadiers usually go into the brigade I intend to place in the van of an assault or with my reserve brigade while standing on the defense.
in the beginning i use 4-5 and 4 militia 2 cannons and 4 hourses (i love useing cav)
11 lines, 4 cav, 4 art, 1 general
For me, 1 general, 4 arty(any type),4 horse(1 dragoon and 3 regiment of horse),4 grenadier and 7 line. PLEASE rate it. (Can be as bad as you like) They are all quite old as I feel attached to my old units, including my big 5, which is my nickname for the 1st to 5th regiment of line, and the godly 7, which(obviously) is my 7th regiment, which has 4 of those experience thingies.

What the hell happened to this WORLD?
My standard Order of Battle
1 General
3 Line Infantry
2 Elite Line Infantry or Grenadiers
4 Light Infantry or FreiKorps if playing as Prussia
2 Light Dragoons
3 6lb Horse Artillery
3 12 or 24lb Howitzers
Am I forgetting some slots? I hate people who focus too much on Line Infantry, though it is fun to wipe those lines of soldiers out with heavy cannon fire, and harrass them with light cavalry and infantry, allowing my line men to walk over whats left. One of few Light Infantry people who prefer not to use rifles. I just find them a waste of money. hehe
