What version of SS are you running?
ss 6.2
Well the most important things you should take into account are:
Watchtowers - you need quite a few more than with other factions
Movement speed - Cuman generals often get special traits from different settlements, be sure you don`t have generals without those traits. Traits often consist of movement speed bonus witch is very important for the cumans. To get those traits your generals simply need to spend a turn in the respective settlement [i usually do it in the first turn so i can get on with my game afterwards]. A settlement can give that special trait to no more than one general, and if a general doesnt have a trait and spends a lot of turns in a settlement, the other general that has the trait from that city will be stripped of his trait and the trait given to the general that is now residing in that city.
Roads [also movement] are vital too! And farms because they give a far greater income than actual trade.
And your army should mainly consist of Horse Archers. Watch out so your army doesn`t exceed your income, that happens often when playing with a poor faction.
And finally don`t avoid battles, but even more so, seek to harass your enemies. The cumans horse archers are more effective in small battles because the large ones they tend to get too hard to control and win. Don`t wait for the enemy to bottle up all their forces on your borders until you do something about it, it`ll be way harder then...
Cheers and good luck with your campaign!![]()

tnx a lot. I will take your advice. im sure they will help me in my campaign
Are you sure it works like that? How many turns does it take for a general that is residing in a settlement to get a title?and if a general doesnt have a trait and spends a lot of turns in a settlement, the other general that has the trait from that city will be stripped of his trait and the trait given to the general that is now residing in that city.
Also prepare for the mongols. The best way doing so is to get an alliance with the Kwarezm Empire (pay some florins if they dislike you) and to put generals with high chivalry (=> growth) into the settlements in the east.
An alternative is to rush into the west.
I combined both and so I was able to build up an affluent and mighty empire.
Are you even playing this game?Well, afaik, if no other general has that trait from that city then it shouldn`t last more than a turn, but if another general has it then it`ll take a few turns for the other general to be stripped of that trait to be given to the current residing general.
Thanks for confirming that Sir Walter. +1 repIf you're talking about title ancillaries, the first general to spend a turn in the city gets it. If another has it, he'll never be stripped of it, but you can transfer it manually.
I have question, if that is historycal that cumans have that same bodyguard horse skins what Novgorod?
Is there are mod that gives them new skins?![]()
Well, RR/RC has a completely new Cuman roster with units from Rusichi mod.
