If you play the Sons of Mars prolouge, you will see a black senator, so what's wrong with that?
Was CA trying to be racist? Or, is it a glitch?

WARNING - that thread is old

I was once an Angel of Total War Heaven, but gave up my wings for a life on the sea of battle.
one year the senate seats were decided by who could jump the highest.
I'm sorry, I had to crack a joke after the thread was answered.

well... there are a small group who believe the greeks were black so... Maybe a crazy was in their midst?
Honestly I could understand a darker skinned person, maybe a Carthaginian or something, but a dark dark... I can't imagine that being even close to historically accurate. I can't imagine a nubian showing up and getting a seat in the roman senate, not in the time of the republic at least. maybe after the time of Caesar but surely not when the romans have hegemony over only Italy and citizenship only granted to the people of Rome. Then again, today we underestimate how connected the ancient world was.

He is the one who is going to be lion-diner later
The only civilized people that were THAT dark skinned were part of a "country" south of egypt called nubia (egypt even get nubia cav) it is possible that he was either an egyptian or a nubian representative senator, just like there were gallic senators. Thats the only plausible explanation
I guess the media would consider if there were no important black people in the game. Either that or one of the Senators couldn't be arsed to listen to all the cheesy speaches so he sent his slave to represent him.
When did the Romans accept black senators then? And is the story around the prologue movie correct if you look at the dates? The prologue (i think) is in the early years of the Romans, did they accept other cultures senators then? And how did they know there were black people if they didn't even expanded out of Italy (in those years?) Just want to know if it could be historicly correct
Copied from the other thread i just want to know the answer![]()
Why should there have been any black senator in roman history?
O.k. black people could have gained citizenship when serving in the army, becoming a freed slave maybe or anyway after 212 AD, when all inhabitants of the empire got the roman citizenship.
But all this hasnīt anything to do with the Senate.
The Aristocracy of any country or time was and is very conservative and recruited only from the old well situated families having a long tradition. It was always (and is even today) very rare to see any outsider in the ruling class.
Through the greeks and carthagians maybe
And I never traveled to Africa myself but I also know that there are black people living there ...
Haha the best answer so far +rep
