I gots a crazy idea wanna fix one of the worlds greatest problems called AIDS/HIV(which is the lesser form of AIDS because after time it can turn into full blown AIDS). It is really a simple soloution that if done right would cure it. Any one wanna guess?

Nah, no one will do that. Plus, it takes to much to money to teach everyone that because you gotta run if for years and years and pound it into the media and so on, nah, i am talking about a much cheaper way. Guess again

EDIT: Plus, nukes are not cheap, even the ones made would still cost to fire because you gotta give them full and all that

Bring back the Inquisition. Burn anyone who gets AIDs. This would be more efficient and cleaner and safer than nuking the world, and would stop the thing once and for all.

I would become an inquisitor, and get to wear those cool robes and hats.

lol why? no said it a great idea, i even said it was a crazy idea but in theory it could work. AIDS and HIV can only spread if someone has it and then has sex right? Well, no one going to stop having sex, it a human function that must be used to have kids. So... gotta stop it some where

EDIT: Just say First's post there... he got it right... lol. Gotta get rid of it some where and it a lot better then putting billions and billions of dollars into a cure. Well, either that or can just put every person with aids in a isolated area. That way it won't spread past there, but once again, that costs lots of money

Actually:
HIV is a virus.
AIDS is a symdrome (or a disease) that is caused by the HIV virus.

Now the solution: find a cure!
Scientists are working realy hard on this and they are making progress.
So before you nuke the entire world, just give the scientists another 10-20 years, I think they would have found a cure by then.

In the meantime there are very good drugs that drastically reduce the effects of AIDS.
With propper medication you can live with AIDS for decades, and you feel reasonably healthy.

AIDS is realy only a big problem in developing countries, where they can't afford the medication.
In western countries the chance of getting infected is very low, unless you have unsafe gay sex or loads of different partners.

this is precisely why I proposed the Inquisition. It would eliminate a terrible disease and deviancy at the same time. (this may sound silly, but look at the nuke em proposition above!)

I think the money spent on aids would be far better spent on a disease that affects the mainstream of societies, like Malaria. Millions die from the Scourge from God.

Irrespective of the source of the disease (personal source, that is) it is still a tragedy and comments such as the ones inferred here just help to perpetuate the stigma associated with the disease.

What can we do? If there is a vaccine I doubt it will be cheap enough to distribute all over Africa. And how are you going to change the mindset of those in Africa who believe that they will cure themselves of the disease by raping young girls? I don't know if anything can really be done at this point.

It is not a gay disease. It is an amoral disease. If people just stopped having casaul sex all of the time, we wouldn't be having this problem. I never said anything about it being a "gay" disease. Maybe you were confused by my use of the term "perversion". If so, now I have set you straight (no pun intended!).

Someone mentioned nuking everything earlier, so i figured this was the appropriate place to put an idea that didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of happening.

There are many people, including some nobel prize winners who beleive AIDS is not caused by the retrovirus HIV nor from sexual intercourse. There is a surprising amount of data to back this up.

I remember CUBA was doing this sort of thing at one time. People with AIDS would be isolated, prisonlike, and were marked in some way as having AIDS beofre getting out of isolation.

My problem is the attitudes shown in this thread. It dehumanises the victims and, basically, takes a similar view to genocide - 'eliminate the deviants and the afflicted.'

In terms of Africa - well, I go against my pharmacist friend (IRL!), I think the situation is just so severe that patents on this type of drug should be eliminated - we are quite literally seeing the end of parts of Africa, unless it is controlled - It will make the palgue seem like chicken feed as well as the flu epidemic in 1918. TBH - if the infection rates were repeated in America/Britain - government invovlement would be colossal and the result would be widespread immunisation asap. Now, of course, I'm not expecting anything on that scale - the world cannot grind to a halt in order to finance this sort of effort and, reasonably and the pharmaceutacal companies do need a reward for their efforts - but some altruism is really needed here, the scale is just too big not to do it. Perhaps if everybody were to divert their military spending for a month (beyond wages for troops) or so - this would foot the bill... It is all about priorities - the world has it wrong in this regard.

edit - First Crusader - OK, but when you use the word 'deviant' it doesn't mean, usually, those who practice unprotected sex. I also appreciate that these 'solutions' just will not happen, but to even discuss them just seems immature in the extreme.

How about: just put those with aids or hiv into some kind of quarantine? Don't kill them, just keep them somewhere where they cannot spread the virus, at least until we discover a cure? More humane, less deaths by disease, etc.
