Hamachi accounts are free and an excellent tool to play online games like TW. Here is what is different about a Hamachi account.
You download for free here:
https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/
It’s called LogmeIn
You just need to download the program to don’t have to create an account on the website there is a difference.
Hamachi and Xfire can do some of the same things but not all. For example both can be used for chat (text chatting) but that is basically were the similarities ends.
When you double click on your Hamachi shortcut all your network will show up: the ones you created and the ones you joined.
This is what’s great about Hamachi say for example you created a network for Battles of Persia and I joined it.
When you double click on the shortcut your network will show up “Battle of Persia” you will be able to see who is online because beside their name is a little circle on the left of it. If the circle is green that means that person is online.
You then single right click on their name and then left click on the chat and ask if they want a game or whatever else you want to say to them. If you have more then one person on your network you simply left click on the network name and another window will come up. If it’s not your network in other words you didn’t’ create it, the next window will say from top to bottom is: Go offline, open chat window, Leave network.
So now you establish contact with the individual you want to play. He says yes I want to play see you in lobby.
This is how Hamachi truly shines and shines bright at that. When you establish contact with that person in that particular network it allows you to use your LAN connection rather than Gamespy. So you hit multiplayer rather then online and you will find yourself in the LAN lobby. LAN is an acronym for local area network.
If you never played before after you’re in the network you may have to hit alt tab to allow your firewall wall to let you through. Typically your ping rate will be reduced. I have had ping rates as low as 80 and as high as 600 with no lag using the huge setting for unit size.
It’s a win, win situation. It cost you nothing, you play people who have the same interest. You’re much less likely to run into immaturity like on “kidspy” I mean “Gamespy”. The list goes on and on.
Please post if you have any questions.
I learned something new, how to power off Hamachi. See screen shot below.
