    Default ROME 2 TW aspects

what if there wil come a rome 2 tw what kind of aspects does it need to have ?

    for me :
    1) a verry detailed map of europe more detailed then napoleon
    2) good moddabilty (maps shuld be possible to make by modders)
    3) a lot of factions (if possible a faction for every region so we can liberate)
    4) naval batlles
    5) a lot of units
    6) some mini camps for example ceasars conquest of gallia, the punic wars, italian conquest, britain invasion, barabaric atak ,and some more i cant think of
    7) the chance to liberat the eastern empire so you can spit your empire self
    8) all factions playble (if not verry good moddebility so they can be made playable
    9) a good tec tree so that a gaul tribe doesnt conquer the world and stil makes wouden baricades
    10) a mpc with the possibilitie to play with more then 2 people
    11) no super powered romans
    12) in the minicamps a winter penalty like in napoleon
    13) no annoying bugs like empire had in the biginning the game needs to be tested verry wel

sorry for my bad engish if i made any mistakes
and i love to hear what other people think what rome 2 (if it comes) should need

Dream Game SIr, but in recent experience with CA i dont believe them much. Mainly in mod support, because mods made Rome and M2 immortal.

This should probably go in The Rome:Total War section. This is about Disappointment:Total War only.
    .

    "Peccavi" or "I have sinned"

Disappointment: Total War should be about the children whose parents got divorced because of them.

    No that Labour: Total War

Mods are brilliant they allow an under acheiver at school to learn a new talent where he/she can then get into the game industry because of it. Official DLC when having to pay for it is a rip off. You brought a game which is expected to be the full game. You don't go and buy a Ferrari and the dealer tells you that you can have the logo for it a month or so later for an extra price. Mods add non proffessional talent to a community. With CA's crap releases people will mention how mods are better than the original game. Imagine people saying that about something you developed.

DLC isn't worth it compared to mods.

Rome 2 comes out and is as good or better if possible than the first one then my trust in CA will no doubt take a U-Turn. We need great games in great eras no great games in crap eras or crap games in great eras...

If all of the features from the past TW games were re-introduced and re-defined, full list bellow with link, along with new pleasing features it would be one top notch game!

All i see are complaints about modding lol.

A company doesn't have to give you anything to mod their products - does any other game?!

Mods are cool but giving you everything to make new total wars kinda makes CA redundant don't you think?

Well mods are thing which made TW games so popular. Without them TW series would be nothing special because vanila game from CA was never enough for me. But i always bought those games because of modding options.

Cut mods ever more then in ETW and NTW and TW games will die quickly. Its already bad enough and many people refused to buy ETW and NTW because of this. Just look into RTW or M2 section and watch what modders did with those games. Wonderfull games. ETW or NTW didnt offered nothing like that and they are much worser games because of that. I cant imagine someone will play ETW or NTW in 5 - 10 years like people still do with Rome and M2.

Indeed. I played most of the mods that have been made (Favourite was english civil war and third age) but out of all the total wars i played Shogun the most and the longest - i even play it sometimes today. Never had any mods for it and its still as enthrawling. People should be pestering them to make their games special. Its this whole attitude of 'mods' that probably cause them to release stuff with errors.

    I can well imagine it:

"These need fixing boss". "Don't worry just release the game, modders will sort it."

This is not what we should be promoting. Its getting ridiculous.

I'm still hoping Empire happened because of pressure from the finance crisis - 2009 was a year of shoddy games.

Mods are an important feature and a definite selling point.

Well you may sell 1 or 2 extra games but frankly mods are insignifigant in terms of actual sales
mod makers and their fan boys totally over-rate their importance

Exactly! The best post I have came across so far on these forums. On these forums, designed for fans obviously, there is a huge over-exageration of the importance of Historical Accuracies, Realism and Modability in the TW series. What it would appear to suggest is that it is only the small handful of people on this forum who believe that these are make or break features in a TW game. With TW games the majoirty of gamers who purchase the game do NOT care about these, if they did; if the majoirty of people buying TW games formed mass protests about these three features, then i'm sure The CA might take steps to adressing them. But what you forget is that the majority of people will buy the game regardless. If The CA releases a game which is more difficult to mod than N:TW then they will only lose a few hundred of potential buyers, that weighed up against the great tide of people who will buy it makes this just a bit silly to me.

Did anyone consider that the reason that newer TW games are more difficult to mod is perhaps because they are more sophisticated and advanced in their design? Anyone?

    Sorry for going off topic.

Oh that really sounds like poppycock, tosh and bunkum, I think D.L.C. is great, I buy whatever is on offer, I also mod, I appreciate members who enjoy them, overate them? not on your Nelly old chap, some of us just have the necessary skills to make mods, I personally dont stay to one particular area of modding, for instance music, I also make Artillery Mods and help with graphics mods, I enjoy doing that and a lot of people are grateful for the mods we turn out with the tools at hand, now just imagine some of the modders had all the tools the developers had and the resources, not to mention one of our esteemed forum members now work for C.A. and quite rightly too, his work was astounding in these TWC forums.
Believe me, CA get a lot of ideas from the modding community, I wish Jack Lusted could come out and say that, but I dont think he can?
I am not ridiculing or thinking any less if members do not respect the mods and modding community, everyone has their personal opinion. but here is mine, those members who a set against mods and modders perhaps just dont have the technical skills or know-how in which to make mods. As I said this is only my personal opinion but it does rather look that way and perhaps a little envious of the respect some of the members who use mods give we modders, it makes no odds to me old chap, but I am grateful when members say thanks for our efforts, nothing much wrong with that I would say?

P.S. you wouldn't have gotten the 1.6 patch for Empire Total War if it Wasn't for this Community and the modders input, I can say that for certain almost!

Oh really, actually I have completly adjusted the trait system and added new regions for RTW in the past as well as doing a few minor changes, frankly its not a big deal there was an excellent download manual showing how to do it, so thats your petty theory blown out of the water "old bean what what"

If you actually bother to look a little further back you might see some points that you might care to try answering, instead of just demanding thanks for doing some modding that you did for your own personnal pleasure

I am not saying that mods are rubbish but I do find the constant whining about mod tools and the sneering at vanilla quite annoying

You claim credit for the 1.6 patch to ETW, well correct me if I am wrong but wasn't that a patch for a VANILLA game, and if you actually manage to grasp what I am saying it is that modders whinging divides the community and its efforts, a better VANILLA game should be our main target not modding tools

The one question that hasn't been answered so far is Does the existance of so many mods actually make RTW2 less likely ?

toodle pip old chap (would have thought you would have got a little bored with speaking your silly way by now, being as how you are a grown man with a kid and all that)

What Ho Graham old chap. It just maybe Nuisance could be right in one aspect! mods are holding up vanilla releases. Why one may ask. Well take a RTW2 release. It would have to be a hell of a game raised to extraordinary levels of gameplay and immersion for a vanilla game, To even come close to eclipsing some of the already available mod releases for the original RTW, Just maybe mods have risen the bar to high and ruined things for old Nuisance sigh, dear o dear.

Yeah, I was gonna point that one out. Why is it that we accept "Mods are the main reason for TW's longevity" as a truth-statement?

I have seen no statistics to support this claim other than anecdotal evidence, and even that evidence is not compelling. I refuse to accept this argument hence forth.

doubt there will be Rome 2 TW... there are pretty advanced mods already for that era, with CA level of "expertise" they have no chance to beat something like Europa Barbarorum...

This raises a very valid point, Do mods actually diminish the possibility of re-makes (IE RTW2) ?
Personally I think it does affect ca's thinking but given the game engine advances I hope it won't affect the possibility of RTW2

I am hoping that NTW will show the ca way of thinking and we can look forward to a Ceasar Total War etc etc but I am also sure that mods will affect ca's thinking in how the game willl be presented (IE not too close to a mod therefore making it harder to make)

I do worry that mods affect the possibility of a proper expansion and if (as it seems) that ca feel the same way about mods then I agree with them
