So I use Microsoft office to do my homework. Except the other day my computer froze so I restarted it but what ended up happening when I tried to restart the computer and relaunch word was I ended up with error 1706 files could not be found and office attempting to reinstall itself. Irritated I decided to check online for the installation directory figuring nothing could've happened to them I just needed to find them. I was wrong. When I found the directory (remarkably difficult btw) several of the important files were completely missing. I'm not sure how this happened but it did.

The first file was fairly easy to find enterpriserWW.cab, the second was missing and a third was a .dll within the enterpriserww.cab file. The .dll for some reason won't register and since word can't find the dll it won't launch which is killing me.

I'm at my wits end on this one, I really want to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling so I don't lose the documents that the computer crashed on but I'm starting to think it's unavoidable ;_; Worse, the repair button won't work either. It tells me that the file locations for the files it requires are missing (for some reason it's pointing to a very wrong location) so when I redirect it it ends up telling me it's an invalid location.

Please help!

BTW, microsoft vista ultimate on this computer (I know! I have the windows 7 installation disk I just hate reinstalling windows)
