Different Cultured Generals
In one Ptolemiac campaign I got a general who was Ethiopian, which meant he was -1 influence and Eastern Civ rather than Western Civ. This brings up a number of questions--
-if he has kids, will they be Eastern Civ rather than Western Civ too, and "Ethiopian" rather than "Ptolemaic"?
-can other factions get generals outside their normal race? Can Carthage have Iberian generals with "Barbarian" culture rather than "Eastern Civ" culture, for example?

Re: Different Cultured Generals
i never encountered a general who was (for ex. with gual) not barbarian. only like "iberian", "germanic", things like that. never a totally other culture. so i don't know what will happen to his kidz. is he handy at keeping ethiopia happy?

Re: Different Cultured Generals
I guess he'll work okay with the cities that are still majority Eastern, but it's alot easier to have a faction that's only one culture. It would be fascinating if Carthage could somehow get Iberian (barbarian) generals though, it might help pacify parts of Spain.

Re: Different Cultured Generals
Admittedly I haven't played as Carthage for a while, but if I remember correctly they can get a variety of half breeds. I'm fairly sure you can not only adopt them, but have characters gain the trait "Libyan/Iberian/Hellenic wife" which not only gives a bonus of some form, but means that their children will thus be "Puno-Libyans" or such. Libyans, Iberians, Greeks... I'm fairly sure the Iberians are barbarian, although it is possible that they are somehow both barbarian and eastern, since I managed to get a character both western and eastern (I believe) as Bactria.

Re: Different Cultured Generals
All the Iberians I've had so far are barbs. I suspect Gaul/German characters are the same.
Which leaves the main question mark among the barb factions to be Thrace. Can Thrace have Western (Hellenized) generals as well as the conventional barb ones? It would make sense given the inherent "Greekness" of the Thrace faction ingame.

Re: Different Cultured Generals
In a Seleucid campaign I had an excellent general who was Eastern Civ adopted into my family. So good in fact that I made him my faction heir. BIG MISTAKE. When he became faction leader it increased the unrest in all of my Western Civilized cities! Learn from my mistakes.

Re: Different Cultured Generals
How often do the different cultured generals generate for most factions? I could actually see a benefit for, say Baktria getting Eastern Civ generals.
