bought the gold edition and cant install kingdoms

so i had this game before and i uninstalled it
possibly incorrectly
today i bought the gold edition (mtw2+kingdoms)
i installed the base game and it seems to work fine
but when it only used one of 2 dvd's
in the launcher it shows that kingdoms has been installed (it says play teutonic as opposed to install teutonics)
but when i try to play it i get an error
and i dont really think it was installed because as i said i havent used the 2nd dvd
so i think it all happened because i uninstalled in a wrong way

can someone help me with this?
