Okay, I don't know how I installed this but... I have Steam based RTW. So I installed it in that certain directory. And patched it as well. But the EB shortcut makes error saying "Steam cannot be found". So I tried with -mod:eb -show_err launch option in property. Now RTW shortcut works as EB shortcut.

Anyways, this is my question. In custom battle, every factions have so many units and they all look the same. For example, when I choose Romani in custom battle, I see all kinds of unit, from arabic to Germanic to celts la lalalalalal~. IS this supposed to happen or did the installation got all retarded and got mixed up and getting the unit listings all messed up?

This may help you solving the problem with steam.

From the EB FAQ:

Q: In custom battles or multiplayer the unit selection is missing units.
A: All of the regionals cause a problem for the custom battle / multiplayer list. There is a special EDU for custom battles / multiplayer in the "...Rome- Total War\EB\mp custom game edu" folder. Rename your campaign EDU then place the EDU from that folder into the "...Rome - Total War\EB\Data" folder. When you want to play a campaign again, switch back to your original EDU.

Normal EB shortcut point to normal installation path (C:\rome total war or whatever).

Steam version live under {YOUR DRIVE LETTER}:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold\

Steam special version, launched as "steam app4760" or something from special shortcut on desktop. Must copy special shortcut, rename & add "mod:EB" AFTER application number in special steam shortcut.

Result: happy gaming.


EDIT: I've just re-read your post; sorry but, do you mean "Why have the Romani got such a weird unit roster in custom battles"? If you do (it's terribly difficult to ascertain from your post btw), the answer is that in EB you can only recruit certain units from certain territories -- i.e. you get different units depending on the territory you own -- & there is no way to mirror this in the custom battle unit selection screen you get a great big wodge of units, differentiated only by their names & cosmetic differences.

So, no, it's not a bug, it's a result of the complex territory-specific recruitment mechanism that has been implemented in EB, & makes campaigns so much fun to play. I don't think EB is generally "for" custom battles; imo it's much better to make use of all the wonderful things the team has added to the campaign game. So you have installed it correctly.

Start a campaign, start the advisor script, enjoy.

The accuracy of an answer, especially to an technical issue, is not determined by the amount of posts a member of this forum has. All players of EB can be happy to have an active and helpful community, so help along if you see problems you know enough about to help people.

I heard I can switch those EDU files using the trivial script. How do I use that? I installed it and everything but I have no idea how to even start this. If I click something called "EBTrivialScript", it says things like "Row: 0 description: failed to open file". And I also heard about starting the game with "Play Singleplayer.exe" but that doesn't work because I have steam version. Again, it says "Cannot find steam" whenever I execute it.

Any ideas?

Trivial Script won't work with steam IIRC.
