    Default Help with rabbits...

I'm playing as BtR and I'm having one of my best DLV experiences so far, however, I have a problem with my generals...they don't like, you know...doing 'it'. Neither do their daughters. Its probably going to result in the extinction of my royal line!!
I even gave the 38 year old heir to the throne a 14 year old princess of the KoJ to play with and they have only had two daughters. Another son of the late emperor had two daughters who are now middle aged spinsters.
Can anyone help me? I'm running 6.2 at the moment.

Ideally I would like to keep my save game but I'll suck it up and take the restart if I have to.

You typically get daughters because you have too many sons for the amount of provinces you have. Get more provinces or less sons, it's the same in vanillla and every mod.

Is there any way this can be changed though? Such a ridiculous feature!!

No, apparently it's hardcoded. There's no way to affect it that I know of.

I just love them sometimes...as if it makes any sense what so ever!!

Looks like the Komemnos line has no future.

I wish I knew exactly how it worked. Presumably if we knew this, we could then track it and warn the player when things are getting tight. Even then we'd still be left with moments where the player is deciding who in their family to kill - which is never ideal.

It's just such a senseless idea, I mean why would members of a family stop getting married simply because there are already enough male members of the family to govern all the provinces they own?? It's making me so angey...I think I might have to start the campaign again and only breed the Komemnos line.

If I remember rightly, it has been worked around in RTW.

    @ Coeur de Lion
    Dear friend,
Make a save before ending your turn (e.g. BYZ-001.sav)
Click on the end turn button and see what you get...
If you get something you don't like (let's say a daughter) reload the BYZ-001.sav and click on the end turn button again.
You will find out that this time (the second one) you get a different result (maybe another daughter, maybe a son, maybe nothing at all)
If you reload the BYZ-001.sav and click on the end turn button again (for a third time) the result will be exactly the same as of your second attempt.
How can you get a new result after your second attempt..? It's easy...
Reload the BYZ-001.sav press Ctrl+S (Quicksave) and click on the end turn button.
The result will be a totally new one.
Beware that the "rule" of the two-times clicking (as described above) refers to the Quicksave too.
So, after another two attempts you can press Ctrl+S again to try a new result...
I am sure that your sons will definately fill the Emperor's Palace with their screams...

    Cheers
    Agis

PS In my latest campaign -after some 30 turns- my heir (Andronikos Komnenos) has 4 children (2 sons - 2 daughhters) my first daughter (Maria - if I remember right) was married to one of my generals in the first turn and has 3 children (1 daughter - 2 sons) my second daughter (Anna) was married to the second general and has 4 children (2 daughters - 2 sons) and my second son (Alexios Komnenos) was married recently and has 2 children (1 daughter - 1 son)

A mini-mod is never late! Nor is it ever early. It arrives precisely when I mean it to do!

if i remember correctly, girls counted towards the sons/provinces limit.
so a daughter = son in that equation.

i just got their ass married to my youngest boys as soon as they grow enough to get plucked

also, if you have too many military guys and want to go civil, or you have an hereditary line other than the one you like,
just make them fight against rebels with /archer/xbow/peasant.
using bb, they will set stakes. you can make them run for their lifes, and once you secure victory, continue the battle, and use
the planted stakes to eliminate all noble guys you like no more

it works like a charm... no more sending them in ships! this is the best way ever!

all populations which have very little resources available to them have the tendency to have some way of ritual for killing the old and feeble,
in order to make room for the younger and stronger.

for example the tale "the land of the long shadows" talks how the igloo ppl either let themselves die by swetting and running outside the house,
or jumping to the water inside a hole in the ice, or go fight polar bears (if they beat them, means they are still usefull and therefore dont need to die)

no need to mention that also all populations have a way of segregating themselves in more than one political/fanatical group and go for each others throat

good working tips but the combination of a rpg strong dlv and these un-rpgish solution somehow clashes

    Thats what I think too,
if you have to reload a savegame in any case that destroys any rpg feelings.
Though it is just a work-around and is pretty common in computer games.

On any other point about breaking emmersion I would agree, but it's the lesser of two evils! What could be more emmersion breaking than having 4 middle-aged unmarried ladies and 6 celibate generals??

Well I don't know about the four middle aged unmarried ladies (honk honk
But as for the smelly generals, you charge them into the nme ranks at first chance.
