Parthia/Armenia
I decided to play Parthia campaign last night since my roman campaign is a little nutty at the moment. I really like their starting position and the nations around them, so I thought it'd be a good idea to give them a go. Here are some things I hope can be improved upon if there aren't plans to do so already
1) In ancillaries, there are pictures of Romans, like "Decorated Hero" and so forth
2) (I think this is for all campaigns) Enemy armies don't seem to block trade when standing on your roads
Edit: 3) Most of the cavalry still have the vanilla spears, which look quite bad in comparison to the new ones
4) The music. Compared to the other cultures I've played (Rome, Barbarian, Greek) it just doesn't seem up to par. In short, I can't imagine myself playing an extended amount of time with Parthia/Armenia. The music seems authentic enough, but most of the tracks are quite fast and harsh and erratic in nature, and seem like they would fit better as battle music.
I'm not saying these are bad tracks but as campaign music, which the player would have to listen constantly, perhaps some work could be done to make it a bit more mellow. Also there are two songs that sound quite similar, a bit of a remix but seemed recycled.
I'm no expert on music but i consider the music created for this game to be at least as good as what Jeff Van Dyke did, and we all know how good the vanilla tracks were. I think that the music for the eastern factions should be revised if time permits. (If I had the talent of Apple I'd give it a go myself
)
I do not though, but I can tell you what I like; I think the eastern music in the vanilla was some of the best in the game and the crusader campaign in med 2 was also very good. Also, Brian Tyler's work for Children of Dune might be worth listening to, particularly
-The Desert Journey
-Leto and Ghanima
-The Golden Path
-Exiles
-The Impossible Wager
-My Skin is Not My Own and Trap the Worm (more battle-ish but AWESOME)
