    Icon8 unlucky moment

i just had one of these "oh crap" moments, when you feel like uninstalling the game:
so, i am sallying out against harad, who is trying to retake one of their settlements. i have a good commander in the town and Imrahil with my favorite general, Durven, as reinforcements. the battle goes fine, i loose a couple of archers but thats ok. i happen to have one ballista in fire at will mode. as i finish off the last southorn warband with four cavalry units (imrahil, durven and 2x gondor cavalry) i see 4 bolts of my ballista heading towards them. "ok", i think, "my mistake, i will lose a couple of riders". the next moment, i've got that guy telling me that "our ally has been slain"
"OH CRAP". i get no message and try desperately to find any of them on the field. i finish of the battle and, in the campaign map, i get TWO messages saying heroic death. Both Durven and Imrahil had died from one bolt (the others mised)
which, btw, was fired by MY BALLISTA.

i mean WTF????? how can i be sooo unlucky. i fear i will never return to that glorious campaign

which are your unluckiest moments, when the whole universe seems to be against you?

May the earth be light upon you, lest the dogs can dig you out more easy.

Once I was playing with the High Elves, had one battle against Isengard with a full stack and another full stack of reinforcements. My general were Glorfindel and Elrohir. I'm slaying Isengard, quite all dead and then the reinforcement army comes and fires at will without taking care of my army. Result? My both Generals died, slained by hunderd of elven arrows...

That's why you don't leave reinf. under AI control. They're too stupid to arrive in time anyways.

Well on another note, these trolls were rushing my balistas, and right before the trolls reached the soldiers, a balista got one at near point blank. Then again, it was not campaign, and I wanted to view it in replay, when I realised.... Replays do not actually replay the same thing.

Why not quit and load to saved file before battle?

At least load it and make a regular save so you can replay it later. Once the sense of dismay and disappointment has waned there's a good chance you'll want to get back to it. That's simply how the human mind works.

i am pretty sure that tomorrow i will replay the battle. as i told you i saved before the battle, as i always do since i lost a nazgul at some my sharpened stakes and valued the save i had made before the battle.
    thanks for the encouragement anyway

unlucky moments.... not happened too many times... but...

as elves, my general (Haldir) died once because of some idiot who shot an arrow right to the middle of his face... It was one of the "sentinels of the Woodland realms" units... that squad got a ticket to the front line... and at least they were swallowed by orcs.

This battle looks winnable to me xD, You have a lot of good units and a citadel, just keep pulling back if they break through.

    that at the gate...

    are those units or bodies?

btw, how many Mordor stacks were it? 'Cus looking at your full stacks of pro units I would imagine it being a battle that can be won.
EDIT how come you have sentinels?

Is it possible that there were two reinforcement armies one with Haldir which was AI controlled and another with the sentinals in it that he controlled so when one of his units died they came on as reinforcements and appeared in a unit slot even though they are from another fraction???

Don't think it is possible though, it's just a guess why they weren't in the unit slot earlier but were in the second pic.

Edit: I was too late again!!!
