Why do my legions keep dissapearing!?!?

I love the mod, and I am a relatively new comer to it and I am having the following problem.

When I'm seiging a city or I have a stack near an enemy stack and they attack me, if I click the white flag so that my army will refuse the battle and retreat they are dissapearing. Once the A.I. has finished their turns and I check the stack is gone. And if I check the National Anouncements the commander of the stack is said to have died a glorious death. Why is it doing this!?? Is this normal for this mod???

Your legion was surrounded, and couldnt retreat. Therefore it dies anonymously.

There´s a little skull in the corner of your generals picture indicating that they cant retreat if defeated (or if you refure to fight) and so they vanish

i just think of it as 4000 men tried to run away/retreat, got caught by surrounding enemies, and then dragged away in chains

Yeah, years ago I used to play vanilla but I can't remember stacks just disappearing. It could be that since it was a named legion it feels all the more of a loss when it just disappears without any remnants of it making back to a nearby city.

PS. This is off-topic of my original post, but it's my thread so I give myself permission. lol. Is it just me or does this mod crash an awful lot after winning a battle when it is loading back to the campaign map!??

I think this is the reinforcement bug.... this affects all mods and vanilla, and i think the only way to solve it is to either kill all enemies (not leaving 1 soldier behind), or just auto-resolve the battle.

Yes, I am using 1.6. And just like my original post I never remember the game crashing after battles either.

Why do my legions keep re-apearing?

1 of my Cohorts got decimated to 37 men in battle fighting the brave Macedonians --after the battle ended and i assest the damage i noticed it was back to 80 or so men. This wasn't the first time i noticed this. Now i'd like to think they recruited the vetern survivors of the battle and sold the remaining as slaves, but could it be something else?

It's the wounded men that have recovered.You can increase the chances of men recovering by having beneficial traits and ancillaries, like herbalist or something.

Yeah, I believe the heading under which you can see how many people have recovered after the battle is entitled, 'Casualties Recovered' or something to that effect.

I'm not surprised they're disappearing, from the intolerable disgrace of it all.

haha. I had to quickly end the turn as I need to pack my laptop up to go somewhere so clicked retreat or auto and it happened.
