Default Behaving Ethically in all IB Forums

There seems to have been a bit of banter over the last few days which I feel has started to verge on what would be classed as cyber-bullying. No doubt there have been some individuals who have caused some of us, and myself included to get rather impatient.

It is difficult when we are dealing with people from all ages and we can become very impatient with those that do not have the same knowledge and experience as some of us here do.

I have taken matters into my own hands and contacted the moderators to deal with the situation. Without naming the individual concerned, they have been barred from this site for a period of one week so as to cool the situation.

I think that we can think about what has transpired over the last few days and hopefully act more responsibly. After the weeks ban, if the certain individual isn't able to also act maturely, then he will be indefinitely banned, a situation I hope we do not have to activate.

So, as much as we pride ourselves on our knowledge and the need for historical accuracy please bear in mind that we are all human and some of us may need a little help. But it does go both ways of course.

    Thanks for your time.

If you have any concerns at what I have written and feel strongly about them, then please PM me and I will be happy to discuss them.

    Thanks

Thank you for clarifying the situation and outlining the action which has been taken. It is gratifying to see debate around this period in history and perhaps no wonder, given the passions aroused, that on occasion matters may get a little 'heated'! A cooling off period sounds very sensible.

I don't mind people showing enthusiasm and becoming passionate when they have something they really believe in. However, people need to temper this with evidence and proof. I believe passionately that muscle cuirasses' were used by Late Roman infantry during the 4th Century AD. I know I am in a very small minority who believes this, but at least I have had the good grace to present evidence to back up my claims.

I agree, I believe that chalons was a battle with 500k on each side with about 600k slain, but I show some evidence to back up this claim. Although I need to do this more often. Also, I agree with you VV, senior officers probably would have used it because they could have afforded to have it made by like a personal blacksmith or something, And Emperor caesar was right to a certain extent. LS was used maybye till constantines time, but by then most of It would have been cannibalized or lost the pieces to hold it together (there were a lot of small nails and pins etc.)

Gentlemen, the topic is more about trying to be respectful of others and not verging on what is called cyber-bullying. I will now close this thread, but keep it up for now.
