Hey mate, I'm contacting you concerning your recent application for Citizenship as a CdeC Councilor(this is not an official message, this is just me seeking clarification). In your application you noted: "I realize my involvement in DotS is difficult to assess considering that it is not yet released." This is true, though not necessarily due to seeing the work itself rather than previews, but that too. Where the difficulty presents itself is how we quantify a contribution that is not publicly available, as in the case of an unreleased mod. Ultimately, a preview of a mod is a promise of a future contribution in the form of that released mod, all in one big hunk.
So then it's understandable that as Councilors, when we say 'Yes' on an applicant whose work is largely unreleased, we're making a contract with the Citizen body that we assent based on the promise of a future release, as an incentive, which we expect to be fulfilled. If we were then to pass someone on unreleased work who disappeared, their contribution would never materialize, thus we'd have effectively handed out an 'IOU' that was reneged on. This is of course my position on the matter, not that of the collective CdeC necessarily, as some may see the previews themselves as a contribution.
The reason I say this, is because you're someone who, were all the work released right now, would be a sure 'Yes'. Since the majority of it is not, it's my job to insure that if I am to pass an application now, there's assurance that it will be at some point. In that effort, I would ask for a response to a theoretical question pertaining to what will happen to your work if certain things occur:
Let's assume that, down the road, DotS doesn't come to fruitition. This is not based on anything except the empirical evidence that all major projects are subject to unforeseen misfortune, which should be prepared for. Now assuming that is the case, what happens to the work you have done on DotS? Do you have a contingency plan to see that the work is made available in some form?
I don't generally approach people about this, but you're someone who I do genuinely feel has put in the work down in the trenches, and is simply confined within a major project release timetable. If it's alright with you, I'd also like to post this PM and your response in the discussion thread for consideration.
Cheers
