Given what's happened in Kyrgyzstan, I would like the look back at what happened in another post-Soviet state, Armenia, when police and special forces opened fire on demonstrators protesting rigged elections and the authoritarianism of a mafia government. During the clashes 10 people died, many more were injured, and hundreds of opposition people were jailed without trial. Some could argue that the people wanted to overthrow the mafia government that day which would have brought in a much more legitimate government.
To this day, the mafia government is in control and is very careful of oppressing the opposition to the point that today the opposition is very weak. They use their power in government to benefit their large businesses.
Here are some videos which prove how the police were firing indiscriminately at people during that night..
Hopefully one day, my Armenia will have real democracy with a government for the people..
