Right so im stuck into my first proper campaign, as rome i conquered northern italy and massilia and i then had to fight off at least 10 macedon stacks i turn off toggle_fow to see if thee are anymore stacks there werent but what i did notice was that germanic tribes had not expanded at all and the gallic tribes owned everything from france to dacia. Are the germanic tribes usually this passive.

also i cant find my preferences.txt file where is it?

1) Germans vary loads in my games..... sometimes they go towards sarmatians, and then pwn them, and some other times they will gauls first, then head down to roman lands. Sometimes (as you said) they just stay where they are, but usually have 10-20 stacks around their homeland in the latter stages of the game.

2) C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\Preferences\preferences.txt..... that's where mine is.

thanks for the help they only have 4 full stacks the other thing is none of the other factions will go to war with them one of the bosporans cities rebelled to them and then next turn they are allies

Indeed. If you are using Vista (or Windows 7) and have installed to 'c:\program files (x86)' then look in the 'virtual store / application data' area.

Make sure that you've set your folder options to 'show hidden files and folders'.

The other thing to remember is that the preferences.txt file is not created until the game is launched for the first time (I usually change something in the options menu).

You can run '%appdata%' in the run dialog box to get the start of the application data folder tree and then follow it down through steps to the RTW folder.

Germanic tribes and the Carthiginians never EVER expand qith my campaigns only in later years the Germans start doing a sort of blitzkrieg in russia and then, they trie to attack me (HAHA motherers!! you'll never pass my 2 golden chevron legions xD) wich they always lose...... get used to it

I only ever had the carthaginians expand once and the germans only expand if gaul doesnt absolutely destroy them at the start.
