This is my opinion in relation to the Terreblanche murder and in total my views on White South Africa and especially the Boer community, this is coming from an African.
The Boers are natives of Africa, they have lived in Africa for half of a millennium, they are every bit invader as the majority Black ethnic groups and are every bit native as they are, both groups came to the land around the same time.
The big issue here is the Boer Republic theme. Do they deserve it? Previously I'd say yes but in context of history a big NO.
The Boers and the Blacks lived like brothers for hundreds of years, they fought, made peace, and received blessings from one anothers' chiefs. As I know, the Boers are the proudest Africans I've come across. But later when the British came and the Boers dropped their African pride to gain temporary White privilege. When the British left SA, the Boers had all the power in the world to empower their Zulu & Xhosa brothers or even declare a nation of their own much the style of Lesotho and Swaziland but they chose instead to live off the sweat and further agony of the Blacks for a short-lived benefit. I ask why THEN did they not call for a White or Boer state, why NOW expect sympathy and crocodile tears? They cheated their brothers and compatriots like snakes and now expect a happy farewell. Well, it won't happen. The Boers burned down SA and helped create an atmosphere of hate and mistrust and now they want to walk away instead of being mature and alleviating the problems.
That's my take. They had their chance THEN when it was right but they want their cake now when its convenient, as if they can so easily get anything they want, as if the world and South Africa is still their oyster. Discuss.
