Thread: Robin Hood 2010

Yes, it's overdone. Yeah, it'll probably be quite implausible. And yes, it'll have Russel Crowe. But Ridley Scott + medieval setting + probably another partially waily Easterny soundtrack (Rob = ex-crusader), what's not to like? I have some quite high hopes for this.

That looks well good. I always like a bit o' medieval fighting.

    Got high hopes as well.

And I really want some gritty Medieval battle scenes that stay away from the entire 300-stylized or over the top approach.

If the rest of the soundtrack is going to sound like that trailer, this is gonna be good!

Russel Crowe can act? That's some big news to me.

Good Hollywood historical films are rarer than artistic pornos, so I'll be surprised if this one isn't an epic cheesy failure.

This begs the question of how one can describe any story of Robin Hood, a folklore character, as historical. Even if his intent is to make the story that inspired the lore, he gets a lot of leeway on that alone.

I am... just curious, why every Robin Hood movie has to start from Crusade (and particularly Third Crusade)??

Why NOT start from a crusade?

Because Robin was a crusader before he was an outlaw, it gives a good oppurtunity for some epic fight/battle scenes, and helps with his back story.

Its always possible to place a fictional story into reasonably accurate historical background.
