It will work fine mate. I had MTW, RTW, M2TW and ETW all running on Vista for a long time. But why not go for Win 7?

    Turn off UAC

Install to a folder like c:\m2tw, to avoid 'program files'

Run the program in xp compatibility mode

... I wonder if I've forgotten something, I have a feeling Vista's even more hassle than that...

I've got Vista on a notebook I rarely use. I've never bothered trying to get m2tw working in vista. I've just had to deal with a great many people having problems with it.

Windows 7 is a hassle too, possibly even more so, what with changing ownerships and so on.

And it seems that some scripting errors cause CTDs in 7, where in XP they get ignored.

At some point you're going to have to upgrade to a new OS and if you're getting it for free...why not? Support for old OS will cease at some point, and you'll have to upgrade anyhow. I'm running RTW, MTW and NTW on Vista and it plays just fine.

I'm with you. If they repair computers than they must have Windows 7 on disc...see if you can get that.
