Default A free alternative to Milkshape?

I am very new to all this texture and modeling stuff. I've just got my 30 day free trial and i am impressed so far. But i was wondering if there was a free alternative that is suitable for M2TW before i pay for the full product. Don't want to waste my money!

I'd say just go ahead and buy Milkshape.

Probably not. There are free modeling programs but they won’t do everything you need them to do for M2TW. I have a few that are better than Milkshape in some ways but I still need to put them into Milkshape before converting them to MESH files.

I like milkshape so i will most likely pay for it when my trial expires.

Good choice, as there aren't many other options, besides 3Ds max which is 10+ times more expensive.
And takes 10 times more time to learn, as well as your results will get 10 times better, with
10 times lesser work and 10 times faster.

Deppends if your modding battle models or strat map models. They are both different so you need two programs or one that can mod both.

You can do both with Milkshape.

No but you can just use the .CAS to MS3D converter

3ds Max is fantastic, WAY better for scratch modeling than Milkshape. I don't know a free program that can do everything, but you might want to try Blender.

It is better but it is too much for my budget. That's why Milkshape. Not everybody has deep pockets for Adobe.

Of course it is. That's why it costs so much.

    I love Blender3D so far.
can someone tell me if it is possible to use instead of Milkshape?
(will there be any export/import problems?)
I know it can import ms3d and ms3d ascii.
    Anyone tryed that yet?

Blender has an awesome unwrapping function already implemented and is very powerful as well.

    Cheers.

Not that I advise doing it or anything, but to my knowledge, all Milkshape does when the trial expires is prevent you from saving.

If you make changes to a model, then select file > new, it will prompt if you want to save your current work, select yes, and it will save it, even if the trial has expired, but if you directly select file > save it wont let you save, for some reason the developer didnt put the same save constraints for the save current work prompt when you hit file > new.
