The You're in Command concept is to put people in the situation as presented by military commanders at the battle, trying to give them the information that they possessed along with the personalities of their subordinates.
The reasoning is simple, when we look at a battle we think of things that we would do differently in a commanders shoes. This is an attempt at simulating that, and hopefully giving a better idea of why commanders made the decisions they did with a better understanding of warfare at the time of the battle. Part of the idea is also to remove the "gamer" mentality, that is the idea that subordinates always do what you want them to do or that you have a perfect understanding.
Anyone is free to start one of these threads if you want. The Gettysburg one is just a trial run, and to see how it goes.
