Default Harriet Miers, what do you think?

There has obviously been much talk about Harriet Miers and how the right has been going against her nomination. I am surprised that so many are willing to go against bush on this, even if it is important. I am also surprised that more conservatives aren't buying the argument of 'trust me' because from what Bush has been saying, it seems as if hes basically trying to tell them that she is anti-abortion, etc by saying she is in line with him. So I wonder, what do the conservatives here think of her? And what do the left wing/liberals think?

Personally, I don't see her as particularly objectionable but I really think that you can't have a Supreme Court justice who has never been a judge, it doesn't seem fitting to me. Keep in mind that im not doing what most of the democrats are and just saying that to have a valid objection to her. Also, the apparent 'cronyism' here bothers me.

I understand the arguments. I actually think ann coulter put it best, it's one thing to have a president who is from the people, but it's a whole other thing to have a Supreme court justice. You need someone who has the resume for the job. Have the Ivy League school education, have th years and years of experience as a judge and so on. She does not have it.

However, i don't necessarily agree. She was lawyer. She knwos the law as any judge would. She was the lawyer of the president of the united states of america. No small task. As long as she's a constitutionalist, and as long as she does NOT legislate from the bench, for either side, she is good to go in my book.

Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

She isnt qualified to be on the court imo and in how she'd rule I think she'd be the Ruth Ginsburg on the other side which isnt a good thing. Bush isnt a fool, I think its clear this woman is part of the religious right despite rumblings from some. I much prefer justices like Scalia and Roberts over picks like this.
