    Default I want a big royalblood family! How?

    Ok so I've played 7-10 campaigns or so recently and I've had one rule : No adoption or foreign marriage... right now I'm feeling like breaking that rule. In my campaigns I usually end up having just a few generals. The father and the son... or two sons if I'm lucky. It really becomes annoying when I have to grow castles with 1-3 high chivalry generals and fighting battles in many places. (No general is auto-resolve for me)

    My royals don't want to get married and if they do I get like 3 daughters and 1 idiot son. Right now in my HRE campaign I have actually managed to lose (first time for me) once because my king (married to a hungarian biaatch at age 68 ) was too old and his ONE! son wasn't old enough. Luckily with saving and loading I managed to survive. Now I have 2 son's and married them off. And now they have 5 daughers! and no sons. Really getting into my nerves. So how are you doing with a royalblooded family?

    Another thing, how could I get recruiting generals back? I tried adding them into EDU, but the game won't start. Those I would like to have. Just to stay in my cities as they now feel so empty with only 1-3 generals around. I can't even keep my generals in cities educating themselves or gaining chivalry because they have to fight from the age of 14 untill 90 without even getting married! jeez.

    Ah thanks for letting me vent abit .

    I'm about to start a new campaign with Kiev or Novgorod. Having recruitable generals would be very nice... just have to figure out how to get them

    Okey... since a human has brains I turned it on and did a little bit of modding.

    I edited EDB and gave castles and higher ability to recruit bodyguards and after some testing I think it is working properly. If someone wants to recruit generals here are the lines I added to castles and such in EDB. 20 turn spawnrate.

    Thanks for this great mod. After little editing for myself I find it even better.

    recruit_pool "NE Bodyguard" 1 0.05 1 0 requires factions { england, scotland, france, hre, denmark, poland, hungary, knights_templar, norway, jerusalem, } and not event_counter FULL_PLATE_ARMOR 1
    recruit_pool "NE Late Bodyguard" 1 0.05 1 0 requires factions { england, scotland, france, hre, denmark, poland, hungary, knights_templar, norway, jerusalem, } and event_counter FULL_PLATE_ARMOR 1

    recruit_pool "SE Bodyguard" 1 0.05 1 0 requires factions { spain, aragon, portugal, milan, venice, papal_states, sicily, } and not event_counter FULL_PLATE_ARMOR 1
    recruit_pool "SE Late Bodyguard" 1 0.05 1 0 requires factions { spain, aragon, portugal, milan, venice, papal_states, sicily, } and event_counter FULL_PLATE_ARMOR 1

    recruit_pool "Cuman Bodyguard" 1 0.05 1 0 requires factions { cumans, }
    recruit_pool "Greek Bodyguard" 1 0.05 1 0 requires factions { byzantium, }

    Now I don't have to adopt ANYONE!. Generals will take care of the towns and my kings and princes will create havoc.

    Does anyone know if it works? Or does anyone have another functioning method of enabling the recruitment of generals?

    Thanks in advance.

    My Imperial Roman family is doing just fine. I guess you could call your situation (bad)luck of the draw. Don't forget the city-to-family-member ratio. I find that the more territories you take when you have a small family, you'll get more marriage offers, and a preference of sons over daughters.

    Bad luck indeed, but in so many campaigns it has become very annoying. In this campaign its turn 150 or so and have had only 5 male members during this whole campaign when I own 20+ territories. It's funny when my family is close to extinction. Adoptions come almost every turn, but my first 2 sons got married by force when they were 70 years old. First king was a good chap living almost 90 years.

    My pure bloodlines almost always end up so massive that they begin irritating me. Hehe. One thing to remember if somehow you're having massive fertility issues is that you can add fertility traits to your generals with the console. It may technically be cheating, but if you're so cursed unlucky it's only reasonable, aye?

    The code would be give_trait "Full Character Name" Fertile 3
    Or WifeIsFertile 3. Or both for massive fertility. As well, you can remove any of the infertile traits with remove_trait. I haven't had to do this in a long time, but it's certainly useful.

    It's not cheating, it's aphrodisiacs.

    Not sure whether it's going to help you Head but I've recently discovered a new way of getting generals that are not in the family tree: you simply just have to give them a wife and children in the descr_strat file before the campaign starts. Thus you can get a maximum of 4 future generals per starting general and all in the first 8 turns if you give them the age of 13, 12, 11 and 10 respectively.

    Sadly though, the game later doesn't offer them wives (as they're not in the family) so they are doomed to live a lonely life... But at least they can concentrate solely on warfare!

    To give them wives, you can always marry princesses to them and bring them into the royal family.

    You're right Kaledon, I was just saying that the generals don't get any proposals - the game practically ignores their family lives.

Thus you can get a maximum of 4 future generals per starting general and all in the first 8 turns if you give them the age of 13, 12, 11 and 10 respectively.

    Sadly though, the game later doesn't offer them wives (as they're not in the family) so they are doomed to live a lonely life... But at least they can concentrate solely on warfare!
    pretty interesting, although what would happen if you give them the married traits via the console, maybe that could help, but i doubt it as they dont actually have any children

    now if they can find if any of the starting generals (if some of them were historically accurate) had any children by the time of the starting date, this would be pretty cool

    You might want to be careful doing that. Setting up more than one family tree can mess with your game. Anyone who is defined in a relative line in descr_strat will be considered to be part of the family tree by the game. So when the main family tree is wiped out, instead of the faction being destroyed, it will continue on with the rest of the generals in the other family tree.

    Yep, that's the only drawback of the method, alas the game can't properly distinguish royal and not-royal family trees.

    Of course, the aforementioned thing applies to 'outsider' generals only. But once they are in the family through adoption, they'll get marriage proposals just as the biological offspring. That's what I call royal treatment!

    It has the same effect on child production.

    Well, now I have my generals, but I also broke my rule because again in my new Kievan campaign my sons are not getting married. So I started aquiring princesses and married two of my own to my generals. Ok so I had 4 couples making babies and guess what... 9 princesses and one son so far!! I was like and ended that campaign. Swarms of khwarezm and cuman armies were starting to become very annoying.

    How did you acquire princesses?

    Armies can fight without a general...

    Walter, what NIH or FDA studies will you cite in defense of that argument?
