Default How does the battle calculator works?

I dont understand, why I didnt get a heroic victory. I know, I had more soldiers, but not that many. Especially when I had only 5 units I was able to engage in melee combat. The enemy had also 10 units (not at full capacity), but only spearmens. What are the conditions for a heroic victory?

Doesn't matter how many soldiers one have, what matters is the strenght of them and how many you lose. E.g one unit of heavy swordsmen is stronger than two units of archers but if you take out the swordsmen without losing to many you'll get a heroic victory.

So enemy army strenght > your army strenght and you lose only units a few you will get a heroic victory.

heroic victory is when you have no chance of winning but still win because of your genius in the battlefield! For example if there is a proportion of 1/2 or 1/3 or if they have far better units and you manage to apply a strategy to break them and neutralise them without heavy loses you will obtain a heroic victory!

Ok, enemy had 10 units of spearmen and I had 3 heavy infantry + 2 spearmens + missile calvary + slingers. So, enemy was stronger, right? And I lost only 16% of my men.
In the another fight were enemy had 4 heavy infantry + 2 phalanx. I had 4 auxiliary cohorts and 2 archers. Again, enemy was stronger, but in this fight I lost 28% of my men. But despite this fact I got a heroic victory. Why?
In both cases enemy was stronger. When I lost 28% of my soldiers I got a heroic victory, but when I lost only 16% of my soldiers, I got a only clear victory.

you had both about 1000 men that is why you only had a clar victory! this was expected! - 50-50% -
if you had about 300 men and he had 700 you would have obtained a heroic victory! - 30-70% -

It seems in the new RS 2 maps you will be able to make tactics on the terrain more then in RTW, RS 1.6 by making a front from shore to shore with hoplites and hold that positon(Also if you do battles like that with 1/2 of the force of the enemy you surely get a Heroic victory).

thats like setting up in a corner of a map, thats not the point of battle's cause it kills any tactics involved

Yeah you shouldn't exploit the game mechanics to your advantages. That's cheating and if you ask me no fun in the long run.

Play fair (even gains the AI) and you will get a far better experience with the mod.

I mean like if you have a pass in the battle map you COULD use it ^.^ just like a bridge you COULD camp the bridge..
