Cheat Code won't work?

Hey I'm new here and I just started playing Rome Total War again, but when I try to do any cheat codes it comes up as an error and doesn't work. example: add_money 40000

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you can only add 20000 at a time in rome,this should work try it.

I have tried this aswelll, but it replies err. command not recognized (use ? for help?)

are you using the shift key when you put the _ this is important it should work.

Still doesn't work it replies with the same message.

sorry i cant help you tommorow i will continue a campaign i started a while ago and check it out and post again. by the way what version of rome are you running? you can check it at the start screen please post.

I don't know where to find that in the start menu, but I know it's the first version of the game from 2004, if that''s any help.

you should download all the patches that are out for the game if you cant find them google it.

first edition RTW... when egypt was still banned from MP. Good times..

The most likely problems:
1. you can only do the 40,000 Denarii cheat with patches 1.3 and later(1.4 for BI). If you have the 2004 version you have 1.0
2. You are putting a space before you start typing.
3. You are capitalizing one of the words.
