    Default Graphics Cards.

Im currently using a GeForce 8200.
Its good for rome and any games before it, but when i got Fallout 3 I had to run it on the lowest specs. Pretty bad news, since im getting Fallout:New Vegas when it comes out.
I was wondering if anyone knew a better card, im no good with all that, that doesnt cost more than £80?

Your motherboard needs to have a PCI-E slot if you are going to be able to install a graphics card (since the 8200 is an onboard chip it doesn't guarantee you have the necessary slot), what is the computer's brand and model number?

Hi tehbuddha From the post sounds like you are in the UK so I am not sure if this will help you. For others though I was just browsing in the local Best Buy store and they had the BFG maxcore 55 GTX 260 on clearance for 105$. I bought the last one in the store and it is an amazing upgrade from my 7900GT. With the new 400 series coming out I have heard that the 200 series will be in short supply, if there are similar chain electronic stores in UK I would check them out. I have an e5400 chip (weak point in system but ok with me) 600 Wat psu and can now play any game at max settings.

Well do as Chaob suggested and see if you have a PCI-E x16 slot on your motherboard and if you do I would suggest getting something low powered (in terms of the amount of power it requires to run from the PSU) like the HD5670, which will eat Fallout 3 for breakfast as you can see from these benchmarks.

My model PC is an Acer Aspirew X3200, heres a link http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/de...X3200sp2.shtml
It shows you the specs and it says it has a 'pic express x 16 slot'.
Do you think that card will be abl to run new vegas well?

Seeing as New Vegas is still in development, let alone released, it's too early to tell. However, with a resolution lower than 1080p (1680x1050), I doubt there would be too many problems.

I'd personally drop an extra 20 Pounds and get the XFX HD 5750. Just that little extra just in case the HD 5670 won't cut it.

Don't think you'll be able to fit a full size video card in that machine.

So i would need to find a decent half height\low profile card?

I think i may have found one that will fit.
nts an XFX GeForce 9500GT low profile.
Im going to assume its quite goot since the model number is 1300 times bigger that the one I have.
    Correct me if im wrong.
edit - aparrently, I would need a 'low profile bracket kit'. im oblivious as to what this is, if someone would elaborate, i would appreciate it.

That looks like a good option remember though you only have a 220 watt PSU but apparently this card will work with that, gets good reviews and only 62 bucks! http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814150322

No that is the amount of memory the card has, pretty good actually if your PSU can run it you should see a great improvement over your old card.

Ahh, it says here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...4065938AAebJiv that it needs a minimum of a 350 watt psu.
I might have to get a new one...

It says that but if you read all the opinions here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150322 many are running just fine on 250watt rigs.I have an Acer aspire x1700 BTW as my second computer.I use it to watch movies and so forth it comes with a g200 dedicated card and I can play most games if I want too. This card looks much better and if I wanted to upgrade I would buy it. Never really checked into PSU upgrades for small form factor computers mine has a 220 watt also.
