    Default A couple of things

I've been having an itch to come back and play Rome and I've heard good things about this mod so I thought I'd give a shot. A couple of things though. Keep in mind that I have gold edition through steam and I'm not very tech savvy so..... yeah.

    1. When I ended my first turn, when it was my turn again, all the world events happened at once, volcanoes, laws passing, plagues etc. (only happened once of 4 restarts.)

    2. I tried using Hesus' 15 turn guide and it's wrong after the first turn (tried 4 times). Is there something added/subtracted from the game since he posted this that could have changed to make it incorrect?

    3. Is there a way to turn back on the unit flags, I'm not that hardcore and I can't tell what the hell is going on in a battle. everything looks the same when zoomed out.

    4. I only fought a battle twice. (same one really, just two different restarts to campaign) but I crashed to desktop.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

In my campaigns fighting Carthage gives CTD's (crashes ) gaul is fine, just save before every battle and when it crashes, just autoresolve (even if it means you lose()). About the events I dunno.... maybe it's got to do with the gold version of Rome..... or patches.... how old is your gold version?

I can't understand these crashes you get, I rarely ever get CTDs. The rare ones I do get is due to scriptbug sometimes when capturing/losing a settlement.
Note though, that the game is infinitely more stable when played in windowed mode than in fullscreen mode, since when in fullscreen it leaks resources and when you've played long enough, regardless of system, it will crash. This doesn't happen in windowed mode. Secondly, you should never load a game when you're using the script if you've already been playing. Only load when you've started the game fresh, if you want to load a game again you should restart the game, otherwise it might bug. On this point, the houserules (never reload:p) is actually working for your own best!

This is a known bug, I rarely got it myself, but take note of the year, if you suddenly got plunged into the ADs, then the script is bugged and you have to restart. But if you only get the events and you're still at 215bc, then it's nothing to care about.

The unitaddon is new since this guide came along, and also you have to take account to the different traits of your governors. You will never have the same income/expenses, but it should be roughly correct, also some of the movements you do early doesn't add up 100%, but it's not the end of the world if you fall behind one turn in the south against Carthage, aslong as you follow the general plan.

Yes, there is. Since you're using Steam, I'm guessing your install path is somewhere along this, and you should look for the preference file around here: "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\rome total war\preferences\preferences.txt". Open this file and edit it manually.
Change SHOW_BANNERS:FALSE to SHOW_BANNERS:TRUE if you want the banners visible again.

Did you activate the 4tpy/garrison script?

The guide isn't really some thing that can be used in a strict way its more of a guide line on what you should/build the first few turns to get some extra cash. For example you will want to build the pro consuls building as soon a possible in capua because it will give you the ability to build the barracks you need to retrain your legions (triarii and principes).

    Read this guide third post.

What settings are you playing on and what are your PC rigs? Maybe your PC can't handle the high settings? Did you play other mods before this one? If you did it is possible that some files of previous mods where left in the RTW folder which could cause the crash.

I get a CTD at least once every play through. It's happened only a couple of times during the battle but at all other times happens after clicking on the battle end menu (either immediately or on the loading page at some point). It's so frustrating to play several battles in a row and then have this happen.

Never had a problem this severe with other mods and it is completely random - it's a clean install, with the script activated, and in windowed mode.

Hmm, sounds like a RAM-issue and virtual cache issue. Although it's much better in windowed, RTW still leaks resources and will eventually crash. How long it takes depends on your system and what settings you're on.

Hey thanks for all the replies. Ya, I wasn't too worried about the guide part, just curious really. I was really mainly concerned about the CTD and the "all events happening" thing. But hearing what you guys had to say cleared it up for me. thanks again.
