Default Should I buy from Overclockers.co.uk????

I'm planning to upgrade my Pc to one of those overclocked i7 bundles + HD 5870 new graphic card + new case + fan controller. Overall I'll be spending around £1000. I was planning to use Overclockers.co.uk, which was seems to be very good choice because they are slightly cheaper than others. Yet by pure accident I came through couple of customer review websites and guess what: They score is really low:
    http://www.google.co.uk/products/sel...=0CAcQlQgwADgA

    http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Overclockers_co_uk

Looks like very often people receiving faulty goods and have problem to exchange them later, one guy was complaining that it takes them long time to build combo like mine and it actually came with factory setting
As I'm spending so much money I don't really mind to pay extra £50 but get all those things from more reliable source like scan, just look at their rating: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Scan_International

Did you have any experience with this guys in past? Or just tell me which shop you using for buying for components.
    Thanks

I've had a few people recommend them, but I don't have any personal experience.

I tend to use ebuyer.com myself. Never had a problem with them. You won't get those bundles there, but you can always put the bundle together and overclock it yourself.

I use them all the time and they and I've always found them reliable (but not always the cheapest), if you sign up for their forums and post 250 times you can get free shipping.

I don't really like those feedback sites as they don't give you a clear picture to how the company runs, people are more likely to complain and write about their bad experiences then they are about a transaction that went smoothly. If you do have a problem you can call them or talk to the staff on the forums directly, just the other day one guy bought an Asus HD5870 and a day latter overclockers had it on offer in one of their weekly deals, the guy asked openly on the forum with his order number if he could have the difference refunded which was picked up by one of the staff members and he got the balance back.

The general consensus is that if you need to return something you're screwed

    http://www.overclock.net/networking-...-uk-legit.html

There's one post about how they outright lied about a return.

    My Opinions.

EBUYER.COM SIMPLE FREE SUPER SAVER DELIVERY.

OVERCLOCKERS.CO.UK HIGH PRICE HUGE VAT FAST DELIVERY.

I would say Overclockers but ebuyer have better quality services.

Thanks guys for all your help. I will think about it but probably will stick to Scan to get i7 combo and try to get the rest from other places.
I check Ebuyer but they seems to have limited stock, at least from this what I'm looking for.
Also another option is still going to one of the shops in Tottenham Court Road in London, where they promised me to match all internet prices - but I'm not sure if they are doing overclocked combos

Amazon don't have overclocked combos, on Ebay prices are starting from £699 comparing to £629 on Scan. But I will be looking for graphic card and new case on many sites - but remember even if I save few pounds on product I will have to pay for postage and the total could be more expensive. I used to buy from Novatech but unfortunately they don't have what I'm looking for - but they don't charge for shipping for next day delivery

Kinda like the combo deals on newegg, but the parts come pre-overclocked.

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produc...d=43&catid=339

Basically, it's good if you don't want to test and overclock the parts yourself. You know, the whole, have an overclock but not damaging your components since it's done for you, type of deal.

Of course, many Motherboards already offer a type of "instant stable OC" (MSI's OC Genie, Asus' Turbo Key, etc), and Intel has the whole speed boost thing going, but they generally aren't as good as manually overclocking it yourself. Having a Core i7 system pre overclocked to 4.2 Ghz is quite good, assuming you're willing to pay the premium.

I wonder how the warranty works out on the deals though, normally massive overclocking voids warranty. I doubt anyone could convince Intel/AMD to cover a processor that's been fried due to insane core voltage increases.

The thing about overclocking is that you get more performance for less money. You run an extremely low risk of damaging anything yourself if you just take baby steps. Also they say overclocking voids warranties but they have no way of knowing if the chip was overclocked or not.

In short, get cheaper parts and do it yourself! It's fun and addictive. + notice your link says
    'Upto 4.20GHz'

Yeah, up to 4.2 Ghz. As in, they have bundles that OC to 3.8 Ghz, 4.0 Ghz, etc as well. I'm pretty sure if you buy a 4.2 Ghz OC bundle and it's clocked at like 3.6 Ghz, that's false advertising.

I never buy pre overclocked components myself (unless they are factory overclocked video cards with custom coolers). I was just explaining it since you didn't know what it meant. There's also the fact that they don't have those deals here in Oz.

I'm hoping when my Thermaltake ISGC fan & AS 5 arrives, I can push my unlocked PII x2 555 CPU past 4 Ghz. I love that little sucker, what a bargain.

It's not false when it says 4.2 max. They have another one that says it's actually 3.8. So I'm guessing the other one will be between 3.8 and 4.2

And it was late when I posted, I thought you were the OP.

Yeah, except for when they lie about parts you've returned and send them back to you saying nothing was wrong with it in the first place.

I take the receipt directly to them with me if a part is faulty, they can't do anything but refund me, maybe that's why I like them and others don't; I never need to use the part of their company which is evidently badly run.

The problem is I'm living in London - actually I moved to Romford yesterday, so travelling to Stoke-on-Trent is sadly not an option for me.

In terms of overclocking combo - if you would like to buy all components separately it will cost you probably only £20 to £40 less then buying combo, and there's 1 year manufacter guarantee (in that case Overclockers are manufacter) unless you change BIOS settings which makes you guarantee invalid.
Plus I'm not sure if I would be able to overclock all the components by myself to that speed - that's why I prefer to buy it

Well you aren't guaranteed to find processors that overclock past the 4Ghz point with just air cooling, it's hit and miss depending on the processors, but you should be able to more often than not.

I like the concept, but I don't like paying extra for it unless the price increase is really negligible since you can probably do it yourself. 40 pounds isn't going to move mountains, but it could also be the difference between a low wattage PSU, and it's higher wattage brother, or between a good PSU, and a not so good one. Or good/not so good RAM, or Hard Drive, or Video Card, or any other component. Of course, if the budget isn't limited, then it's pretty attractive because you don't "get your hands dirty".

I wouldn't recommend it unless you're buying the 4.2Ghz overclock, the others most likely can be done with a little testing. Hell, with AMD Overdrive, you don't even need to tweak in the BIOS anymore, it's done directly in the OS.

As for the actual store, I can't say much since I live in Australia.

Apparently, it's got mixed reviews. The general consensus is though, that they are pretty good, so long as your parts don't break, then it may get a little dodgy. Keep your receipts and you should be fine.

i built a p. From scratch last year and got everything from overclockers. Cant fault them in any way. I acturaly managed to blow up my first attempt and lied and told them it was faulty when i got it. Not that you should, i feel guilty looking back. But my point is if anything is faulty they are verry happy to replace it

Just thought I'd mention this again

    OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 980X 3.33GHz @ 4.20GHz Max

    1 X LATEST! Intel Core i7 980X (Gulftown) 3.33GHz @ Upto 4.20GHz!

Some of the lower ones don't say max though
