    Default Diplomacy Help

Alright so i am the Julli Romans and i have completely conqeured from spain to just before scythia, from briton all the way down to italy an di am currently fighting a civil war against brutii to my east and the scipii to my south and south-west. Brutii are dug in at the old macedonian and dacian land with some turf in scythia and are proving troublesome in removing. Basically my allies the greeks have a GIGANTIC army in their terrotory to the south which could come in handy fighting the brutii and scipii. However, i am unable to persuade them to help me in diggin out the brutii. They have fleets all around sicily (which is completely controlled by scippi) and even have afull stack on sitting on sicily doing nothin (which pisses me off). SO basically how do i go about persuading the greeks to help me attack the romans. I have tried many times only to have them decline.

No idea. Diplomacy isn't one of the strengths of RTW so it's often hard to get the AI to do what you want. I think there's a force diplomacy cheat if you want to use that. If not, I'm not really sure.

Even if you use a force diplomacy script I doubt they will attack them even if they accept. In other words, diplomacy is totally unreliable in this game. Just depend on your strength.

I think there's an option that lets you make a request, and then let them come up with a price. (I think that happens if you make a demand, but leave the offer field blank.) They'll probably come up with a price, which might be huge. If the price the AI wants is more than what you have, they'll simply turn down the request. That said, from what I have read on this forum, even if they take your money, it doesn't mean they'll actually go to war. They might still do nothing, or sign a ceasefire the next turn anyway. And now you just gave your future enemies a giant pile of cash.

Nah even if you got the cash they might still turn you down

Whatever it is, the only thing that is useful about diplomacy in RTW is trade rights, everything is pretty much useless, people going around breaking alliances and such.

You could do as above, offer large sums of gold for their assisstence against the Scipii, and if they accept, send a small stack to Sicily, where they should easily be able to defeat it, and place yourself next to the Greek army. Then they will enter the battle.

I was once an Angel of Total War Heaven, but gave up my wings for a life on the sea of battle.
