I'm giving you an example of the 'traits and retinues' matter to make it clearer what I am thinking about:
Hungary's king at the time was the young II. István (Stephen II), son of King Kálmán (Coloman) the Book-lover. Sadly, he didn't prove to be such a great ruler as his father but of course the player might be able to change this...
After reading some sources I think his main starting traits should be: MilitaryInclination, Military_Edu, BadDiplomacy, Drink, Lewd, Girls, Infertile, FathersLegacy, Royal_Relation_Sicilian (points don't matter at this time). Starting retinue is probably a new bad_advisor ancillary and the crown of course.

Hi - as far as i know Lithuania wasn´t around at that time and it´s hard to find anything about it. I found that - maybe that´s helpful.
Polotsk Riurikids
- Vseslav Briacheslavich, (again), 1071-1101
- Davyd Vseslavich, 1101-1127
- Boris Vseslavich, 1127-1128
- Davyd Vseslavich (again), 1128-1129

Rock´n´Roll!
Thanks Fred, I've already put Davyd Vseslavich in the list as an independent general of Polotsk.
As you've said there's unfortunately very little about the early Lithuania (before the time of Mindaugas) on the net, so probably I'll have to give fictional names for their characters.
Regards
On the german wikipedia site are the following names:
Kiernus
Skirmantas
Montvilas ? - 1070
Erdzvilas 1070 - ?
I think i will ask a bit about the early history of Lithuania when i´m there next time (September). Couldn´t be that there is so little to know. For fictional names be sure to put an "as" or "is" behind the name, because they do that with every male name - Jackas Blackas, Borisas Beckeris, etc.

Cool +Rep![]()
If you mean adjusting the historical event dates in the descr_events file then yes, I plan to do it.
I didn't mention it in the feature list because I thought it went without saying...![]()
UPDATE, 2010-04-07
- added Cuman heir and fictional Lithuanian characters
- added a few historical bishops
- corrected some titles
I would change one thing: Polish heir should be called Książę not Królewicz (królewicz is more like 10 years old fairy tale prince)
Good job!
But please....do not call the one remaining Roman Empire the 'eastern' Empire!![]()
@szelbisz
Thanks, now that's exactly why I've started this thread!
I've noted your correction and will include it in the next update.
@Gnostiko
Thanks mate, and you're right, I'll change that too.
It hardly makes any difference, but after all, it's going to be a historical mod so there's no room for this kind of mistakes!![]()
UPDATE, 2010-04-12
- added more historical bishops
- added some generals
- corrected polish heir title (thanks szelbisz)
I've also put some questions in the first post, if anyone can answer them or has suggestions then feel free to post it
For Poland you can also add a bishop of Kraków - Radost
For Kievan Rus ruler i would rather choose Vladimir II Monomakh
I've checked it, Radost would be good as bishop of Kraków, though at the time the archbishop of Gniezno was the leader of the polish church (I'm trying to put these leaders/primates in the game where possible). But unfortunately Wikipedia doesn't give an accurate info on who held the position then.
Vlamidir Rurikid in the list is indeed Vlamidir II Monomakh (as you can see from his reign period, 1113-1125), I just wanted to give every character a dynasty surname where it's possible - and in the Rus and Novgorod the Rurikids ruled at the time.
I also omitted the numbers in the names because otherwise it would affect every other character (spies, priests, merchants) name as well.

English family tree in 1100 - family members [in boxes] are either dead or in a convent:
Some more children are born later if you actually want the campaign to start in 1120. They are:HTML Code:[William] = [Matilda] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert (age 44) = Sybil | [Richard] | King William (age ~43) | [Cecilia] | [Adeliza] | Adela (age ~33) = Stephen of Blois (age ~55) | Duke Henry (age ~32) = Matilda/Edith Stephen (age 4)
Euphamia (daughter of Henry Beauderc), born 1101.
Matilda (daughter of Adela and Stephen of Blois), born 1104.
Matilda (daughter of Henry Beauderc), born c. 1103.
William the Aetheling (son of Henry Beauderc), born 1103, died November 1120 in a shipping accident (so he'd be alive and 17 in a summer start).
(I've only included ones still alive in the summer of 1120)
Not in 1100. The Early Era campaign starts in 1100, not 1120. Unless you want to update everything 20 years. I don't know if they should be in 1120.

...ceterum autem censeo Carthaginem esse delendam.
Thanks Walter, I've already thought about the English family tree.
I think I won't put William the Aetheling in the game alive as he died in the starting year - though it happened only in November, I think it's better to be a little flexible in this case. His presence would mean that he should be the heir and would always succeed Henry to the throne in the game - which imho would be worse (from a historical pov) than omitting him.
Matilda (Henry's daughter) also won't be in the game as she was the queen consort of Heinrich V of HRE at the time - so practically a 'stolen' princess.
I don't know exactly what did you mean by that, anyway, I've already mentioned that I would adjust the historical event dates as well (and btw any help on this dirty work would be greatly appreciatedNot in 1100. The Early Era campaign starts in 1100, not 1120. Unless you want to update everything 20 years. I don't know if they should be in 1120.)
...ceterum autem censeo Carthaginem esse delendam.
Yes, I know it's not going to be an easy task but I'm convinced it will worth the effort.
As for the English, their probable starting set-up of family members already includes numerous adult generals: the sons of the elder Stephen de Blois (William, Theobald, the young Stephen and maybe Henry) and the bastard sons of king Henry I (I'll pick them later as there are many to choose from).
In case of the heir's (Stephen) death, it wouldn't be a problem for the game to find a new one.
So I suppose we can call them an 'easier' faction but as always, it depends on the player's viewpoint.![]()
