First time I have seen something like this - your map_heights is OK. Make sure you don't have any other files in the base folder, delete the map.rwm file and try again.
Check if you have any of the regular map files in the imperial_campaign folder and remove them - those will be used first!
i try again but the problem is still on , i dont know if the i use 3dem wrong
so maybe you can help me to check the files (already remove the map_heights.hgt and map.rwm) , i have upload entire basic mod here:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/21418...ina_map_mod.7z
put into SEGA\Medieval II Total War\
thanks!
I had a look at your files and I think it is a matter of saving it wrongly when saving a TGA file with GIMP. See the following picture for the correct setting.
Attachment 210294
The TGAs in the attached mod folder are all corrected, you are now left with adding more regions as in the present state the map will crash with a massive graphic malfunction (no idea why it worked with your 'turned' files).
I made a correct map_regions as well.
hi , gigantus, you are patient and kind always , really thank you very much !
i have to say your "Creating a World - Height Map with 3Dem" is wonderful and it make that become possible to make perfect map_height .
hi , gigantus , i have face a problem , as you see , when the loading bar reach the last the game will crash directly .
but the new map.rwm have been rebuild and can go into custom battle or quickly battle only can't get into the campaign !
before i change the map_ground_type the everything is ok but wheni change it something is going wrong (campaign can't load...),
so i add 28 regions in map_regions but the bug is still on
maybe you can help me to solve it , already upload:

thanks
sorry , the picture not show in here , so can see them in attchments:
you missed an entry in descr_regions:
Your slave faction was entered as a regular faction in descr_sm_factions (no special faction, regular family tree)Code:henan_Province henan spain German_Rebels 237 133 148 none 5 9 religions { catholic 0 orthodox 0 islam 0 pagan 100 heretic 0 }
Map_heights.hgt apparently causes a crash as well at this size of map - it is not necessary to include it anyhow, so remove it before map generation.
Attached the working version, the two faction leaders need proper placement.
oh ! wondelful debug ! thank you very much.
but i have some doubt if the map's effect will be different when reduce the quality of TAG ?
i notice the map_ground_types.tga of your 1648 MOD is only 775 KB (but the effect is deep nice)with a 1021*1021 size although the vinalli MTW2 map is 656k with a 591*379 .
if the map_height_tga can be reduce less than 1M ?
It is an automatic effect when working with the GIMP - the TGA files get compressed when saving.
ok , thank you again .
the gimp is more useful and easy than photoshop( i always use it ) in mapping
Could anybody help with my map?
Would the number of islands or the land/water ratio be an issue?
Sorry forgot to add, I get the error message "Uh oh. This isn't good. No idea, why but Exiting Now. sorry pal."
Thanks, I fixed that, made 15 regions with 4 factions controlling 1 region each.
Do i need to list all the vacant regions under rebels in descr_strat? and do i need more that 4 factions for it to work?
Thanks
3 factions including rebels is sufficient
give one region each to the first two factions in descr_strat, all others will automatically be allocated to the slaves as minimum size, undeveloped settlements (without an entry in descr_strat).
For a basic set up check my sample maps.
Tbh then all I need do is cut a map from this DEMIS world map and then load it into the bare kingdom Geomod? I have been reading various threads on this forum for 2 days now and wondering if I have to do some work in GIMP or load it into the mod.
Once all the steps have been done as described in the manual it can be used in Bare Geomod (the usual text files need to be edited, obviously - see Creating a World - Basic Mapping from scratch). I have created a number of basic maps with Demis, they can be found here.
