Default Osgiliath destroyed and impossible to repair

Ok i created this thread to see how many people are agree with my idea.
I would like to see osgiliath with full damage to the begin of the game and impossible to repair.
I Know that it was not the case in the starting date of the campaign but it would really improve the gameplay because:

-It would give diversity to the gondor startegy. Defend forts and walls during the half of the game can be boring. with always the full stack to the doors ect... The denfensive siege battles are always the same!!! Defend breches and the town street are much more enjoyable to see and to play(Block the street guys! Shield formation!!!The archers behind!).

-it would create more urban fight, like the battle in osgilliath in the movie. so i think it would give a better LORE feeling.

So just for two city in the game i think it would be a great idea who will make the gondor(and the mordor) much more enjoyable to play.

Have you got any idea how hard it will then be to defend Osgiliath? It is already hard to defend it from three full stacks at one time. And now you want to open the gates for them? This just wouldn't work.

Is it possible to code damaged buildings in a settlement?

I think it is, if they are damaged from the start and the building is unable to be repaired. I think it wouldn't be possible from turn one though. It would have to happen via a script or when the walls are damaged make it impossible to repair them.

I think it is a good idea. I cannot wait until they are able to just construct settlements to what they look like in the movie to give the REAL lotr feeling.

Damaging buildings is possible via script (searched the mod workshop and found a solution that can work from turn 1), although I'm not sure if it should be unrepairable as Gondor wanted to rebuild the town, they just didn't have the time to do that for "some reasons", right?

perhaps more difficult, but less interesting if you want to restore the glory of Gondor

this sounds promising. i like the idea of the walls being irreparable once they've been broken. it gives more urgency to the game, and besides mordor wont be able to damage them until they gain their catapults anyhow. but i dnt think it needs a script, just make the walls irreparable. chances are as gondor if u play right by the time they get those catapults u've gt most of the other side of the river anyhow.

keep looking into this man. looks good

I think it would make sense for Osgiliath to have destroyed walls at the beginning, but they should be able to be rebuilt, so that you can restore Gondor's glory.

    Ok so...Maybe only a submod?

    Here's a fun idea :

Let Mordor destroy your walls, or something, or siege the city in the first few turns and destroy every single piece of wall.

I think that having the wall is the closest we are ever going to get with the ME engine to osgiliath. Im going by the films here but Gondor destroyed the briges that connected eat and west osgiliath so Mordor couldnt invade.

They left one bridge intact. (the one they the Nazguls used to cross the river)

On Topic: It might be a good idea, but it should be optional; the player should get a yes/no event if it would be implented at all.

A better idea (if you want to go with the weak Osgiliath anyway) would be a many turns taking, expensive building, required to build anything else. Only for both halves of Osgiliath, of course.

I see no need for the not-rebuilding proposition:

In most of my games as gondor i had not much money left to even think about rebuilding anything (maybe except city walls), I rather had to sell some buildings to counter the Mordor onslaught and keep the economy running. So the Osgiliaths usually stayed rather rundown anyway...

And anyway I see no reasonable logic in it, to make buildings not rebuildable for only two cities. If you can't rebuild in them; why can you rebuild in say Cair Andros or Minas Tirith???
You'd need a decent reason to explain this!

    so my vote is:.... No

Can't it be so simple that you just don't repair the walls?

Or type "Jericho" in the console at the first Osgiliath battle you fight.
    For the fun of it.

I don't know if this would be a good idea or not. However, if one could create a script in which when certain criteria are met, Osgiliath can be restored(much like the Kingdom of Arnor in patch 1.5) so that you can rebuild Gondor to its former glory.
This would certainly make playing as Gondor harder since you won't have the walls of Osgiliath to help defend your lands to the west, you would have to rely completely on the bridge. Once you cross the river, however, the dilemma would again resurface, it would be hard to defend the eastern banks without that wall...
