Is it possible to retexture a drum in the game and how?

there is a equipment texture with the muskets, bags drums and other equipment. there is only one drum texture for all, so you can change it always for all.

Can it be changed in a faction-specific way?

I don't think. But on the other side, yes, but... it would be very complicated, because we can't open files like the drum.

    First thoughts:

Make with the Alpha channel the texture of the drum invisible. Create a new drum model in the drummer model. Ahhh, the texture can be put into your drummer texture, so every faction can have own drum color. Ready . Now the game thinks, that it use the vanilla, but it is invisible and it's looks like the drummer plays on yours. Problem: How to make the parts of the drum? Is it hips, leg, spine ?

and you will have all the european drummers without drums excluding your own custom unit. That's the problem...

No, no problem. You can made an euro_drummer.diffuse.dds file. I've did it to for the euro_line_infantry for example. I've added a bag to the model. Some factions got a special texture design. I've made it same as CA. I would surely start with an one for all texture, before start one for a special faction.

    For example:
euro_line_infantry_bavaria.diffuse.dds got a texture of the bag with an emblem.
All other commercial factions, which use euro_line_infantry.diffuse have only a black leather bag.

The only way is to add custom drum to the drummer's 3D model (.variant_weighted_mesh).

By the way the drums are too small and placed too high in the game.
